At first I was like, finally, The Legend of Zelda movie! But then who are these actors? Not paying attention that it was April Fool's Day,(thank goodness it was) didn't realize that it was a prank 'till 2 days later. But Kudos to IGN, the budget and all, in my opinion, I think the guy who plays Malfoy Draco on Harry Potter would be great as Link, and The Rock as Ganon.. for Zelda, hmm.. still thinking.

this actually didn't look too bad, yes you had to lose the hat but otherwise it didn't look half bad (ok, maybe the villain (sorry forgot his name for some reason right now) looks kinda (really) goofy but otherwise NICELY DONE!!!!!!! The best part is when he gets the sword, shield and green outfit, they have the dramatic music playing pan up and he is wearing that stupid looking green hat, LOL, I think that was supposed to be the badass shot of the film but WOW, EPIC FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I for one have to say that this was money well spent. I DLed the trailed and plan to watch it over and over dreaming that this was not a prank. Till now all movie adaptations from videogames have sucked cause you can tell they wre written by someone who was told to write a script though they never even one screenshot let alone played the game that they were told to write the script for. Anyone who says that the pointy green hat should good would make a great hollywood movie film director the likes of Uwe Boll , its Link for crist sake that outfit is link he's been waring it since the first game.

Anyhow good trailer. If anyone from IGN is reading this please get this film made. I'd go watch it a few times over just to make sure you guys make some profit and make a metroid movie =)

That was definitely an awesome trailer and got me psyched for a Zelda movie.

That being said, could you really see it? Link crawling through dungeon after dungeon can sometimes get tedious on a video game, let alone the big screen. Yes, I know that most of that can be cut down, but that will, at the very least, have the purist faction frothing at their mouths.

At the very least, they would have to show a bit of dungeon crawling, in order to have Link collect all his various items, find the sages, etc.

So, yeah it's a great trailer, but there are really better video games to write a movie for.

Although I would still pay a good $10 to see Link use the fishnet on Ganondorf on the big screen.

Instead of making game adaptations directed by people who have little to no appreciation of the source material, Hollywood should hire people like the ones at IGN to do it. Reasonably good, for a fan made trailer. I mean, there look to be actual production values there. As a real movie, it'd probably fail, though with some small tweaks to make it more true to the game in some places, *and more realistic in others.* it might work as a feature film.

I'll agree on the hat. While it works in the game, it just looks christmassy on a real person. That, and staying parked on top of links head is both physics defying, and serves no logical purpose. If I were making the film, I'd probably include the hat as a homage to the game, but have it fall off Link's head during the first serious encounter in the film.

I must give them their due with that one. A little cheesy? Yes but so is most fantasy films.

This one was really good. IGN went all out, special effects, people acting, link being mute. Wonderful all around!

Only thing that I can say was iffy was Gannon looking like a green gorilla. I even liked that everyone wasn't overly pretty. Props to them.

Personally, I loved it. There were little moments of fanservice (Link should never speak kthx; I ran from those damned peahats, too, when I was younger). Little parts that made me grin (and admittedly, little parts that made me cringe).

For an indie venture and an April Fool's prank, the trailer has great production value. "Waste of money" on IGN's part or not, it certainly made a name for [rainfallfilms.com] .

A Zelda movie should be done like Beowulf, with motion capture and CG... for those who haven't seen Beowulf check it out... for those who are anti-the-tech-used-in-Beowulf, it's a shame, although it is still emerging technology, I don't think I've ever seen a movie that was so utterly convincing from a design perspective due to the advantage of being entirely virtual. There just isn't enough control over lighting and look and character art and design with real people in costumes as there is with this new tech. I'm a filmmaker so perhaps I see more of an advantage than the average viewer, but still. Anyways. I guess I should post this on slashfilm, maybe not Kotaku...

I would actually like to see a zelda movie I think if they got a real director for the project not that awe boul guy or whatever his name is this could actually turn out to be a good movie. I am aware that this is a joke but it could be cool if done right.

I'm going to go ahead and say that wasn't a prank at all. Thats some serious budget to do just as a prank. My bet is that this was shot for some other purpose (maybe a spec) and then someone decided to re purpose it. Otherwise, thats an awful waste of likely more than $100,000 or so.
