@Dag: This is an RPG, not an FPS, so doubt that the mouse+keyboard combo has many advantages. Actually, from the videos, there are instances where you have to repeatedly slam on a key, which seems more suitable on a controller.

PA mentioned that they were having release date issues with because the game was going to be sandwiched between two potentially huge titles. All of that leaves one to speculate...

Is this going to be released in early to mid May? It seemed like it was hinting between GTA IV and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed*.

*This was mentioned back when The Force Unleashed was due out in May.

I wish they Had and Hadn't made this game... I also wish they had finally gave their characters voices. I understand their decision not to, and that it would probably kill the image some people have already self developed for them. But, that is what voice acting auditions are for.. No one thought Mario would sound like he does now, back in the day, But it really does suit him. And by something as simple as giving their creations a voice could propel them to bigger and greater things. On another note, I guess the basic RPG sytem type play is to be expected. I'm not too into that genre (but thats just me, don't pay any attention to that). But it would have been fun to play this game and giggle at "here & there" puns they'll definitely have, without having to read a speech bubble.. But I'm only one man, one opinion. What does that matter?.

Someone needs to make a Kotaku-based video game.
Here's my pitch:

Genre: RPG/ 3rd Person shooter/ -insert whatever is popular with the kids these days-

Kotaku tower is hit one day by a mysterious blast(!!). Brian Crecente wakes up to find everything destroyed and all the other Kotaku workers missing. There's a message on the monitor explaining the circumstances and how to save one of the members (other clues are left after saving each of them). The Kotaku members all help Brian by giving him power (~magical powers~) by commenting positive/original/intelligent comments. Then there are those idiots that give idiotic comments (FIRST!!!!!) which slowly drains Crecente and his team's power (At the beginning, there are more idiots than good). They would have been banned, but Witzbold has become a brainwashed zombie and with his hammer of destruction, works for the evil that has destroyed Kotaku tower.
Then there are other brainwashed members that are well distinguished on Kotaku (irishninja, papabear, etc) and Brian along with his team must fight them in order to return them back to normal.
Will Brian save Kotaku? Or will he fail against the evil?!!!

**SPOILERS**
- Cute cats are everyone's weakness
- Jack Thompson is a secret team member
- Phil is a boss that'll throw blackballs at you
- Witzbold's hammer is epic
- One of the Kotaku members will DIE (T-T)
- The evil boss is Crecente's twin (this will forever haunt you Brain ;p) [kotaku.com]

The Sam and Max approach to system requirements - ie make sure that people can actually play it. Combine that with the game style - adventure meets RPG - and this is a must buy for me.

I'm going to PAX too, which I'll surely regret. It might be best to just walk in for an hour and leave, since I'm sure it'll be full of fanboys. All I can say is that NCSoft better have PS3 demos or I wasted $40. I might go to sakuracon this weekend too just to have something to do... and in that case I'll walk out due to annoying furries no doubt. So far none of the shows in town have been very interesting.

@Stormrider: From what I understand (read: Heard on podcasts/read online) Jerry wrote damn near every single word of the thing, including item tooltips.

Ron's role included almost no writing, rather, he helped turn Jerry's storyline into something less novel-y and more game-y. (Which, I imagine, is far more complicated than it sounds.)

Ah the powers of art direction over technical smoke-and-mirrors!

When I found out that it was semi-real-time-turn-based, I was kinda shocked. Since most of the screenies before suggested it was a straight-up beat-em-up.

But once I saw the system in action, I loved having all the activity going along in the interface. It's hectic, yet tactical, I love it!

Prolly getting this for PC though. I can't imagine reacting fast enough using a gamepad and not the good ol' mouse-keyboard!
