As for the game:
I personally really dislike MAINSTREAM hip-hop and rapper culture(I consider the mainstream commericial representation to be a fairly poor influence on people, and just part of the whole idiocizing of Western Culture), but I respect anyone's right for video game entertainment. This game is not targeted at me, and I realize that.

Same thing involving Barbie games, and hunting Simulators, etc.

I'd vote for no coverage of any of these kinds of games on Kotaku, but that's just me.

As for pushing the gameplay,I suspect their target market is not hardcore into games like many of us in this forum are, so these 'gameplay additions' would seem ummm cool. Sort of the way Bioshock's 'System Shock gameplay' seems new to people that have never played SS. It's new to them and let them enjoy it.

Anyway the first game didn't entirely suck. The hardcore rap image was a big too much in the first; either scale back or drop it entirely. The controls and camera were a mess. The gunplay was actually gun, hopefully they can "stick to their guns" and just improve upon it. Drop in some nice close-quarter attacks, a sensible story and possibly vehicles (dirt bikes and speed boats) and you may have something. I picture Max Payne meets Ghost Dog.

Unreleased, however, because he got shot multiple times just before release. Columbia, like idiots, decided to drop him from the label and never release it.

Then 50 made a bunch of mixtapes with Tony Yayo and Lloyd Banks which were received EXTREMELY well on the street, to the point where Eminem heard him. Then he signed with Aftermath and released Get Rich or Die Tryin in 2003 which sold 12 million copies worldwide.

Since then his music has been on the downhill slide, considerably, though the soundtrack to the movie Get Rich or Die Tryin' was actually very good and the G-Unit album was excellent as well. Both Young Buck albums released on G-Unit were great too. The Massacre and then Curtis were both met with big sales but are basically not any good.

Those of us who used to be big 50 fans when he was good (seriously, listen to cuts like U Not Like Me and Your Life's on the Line and say he isn't talented) keep hoping he'll get off his ass and write good rhymes again, but unfortunately he's made such a ridiculous amount of money-- he did make $400m off of his early investment in Vitamin Water when they got bought out by Coke-- it's not likely to happen. And obviously, this game will most likely suck. But it will sell, just like anything he does.
