Actually, I HAVE owned two raccoons as pets. The first, nicknamed (appropriately) "Cajun", lived with my wife and I in our apartment. We even had little girls coming over and taking him for a walk on his leash. He disappeared one night when we were visiting my folks out on Cross Lake in Shreveport. We replaced him with another named Dante. When I moved from my apartment, I had to give him away to a family in Anna, outside of McKinney in Texas. I haven't had another pet since, although my wife (a different one) and I are contemplating getting a cat after being together 20 years without one. Still, an ebony grand piano and leather sectionals have made me a bit anxious about it.

Me too. At launch, I drove to 3 stores all across town (about 90 minutes of driving) just so that I could get the Nintendogs version that I wanted, and then when I got it, I played it for barely a couple of hours before wishing that they had Nintencats. I would get one of the cat simulators, but they all look sketchy to me and I think I would only trust one from Nintendo. I am giving my wife a DS for her birthday (she asked for one, I am not just forcing it on her) and I will probably let her have Nintendogs. She can put my Nintendog to sleep if she wants because I have let him get covered in fleas. (Not as scary as my Animal Crossing house though.)

That would be cool if they released the game in the States as such. Sega Dream Cats would make a great pun. Of course had it been on an actual Dreamcast it would have been better.

Darn it Kotaku :) I come on here to try to escape the fact that my apartment owners won't let me have a kitten/cat, and what do I see? These cute pictures make me want to go out immediately and violate my apartment rules. Very cute indeed. I hope the game is more than a cheap rip off of the other 1000 cat sim games out there (I personally only own Nintendogs, despite being a huge cat fan oddly enough).

@jamar0303: Oh, that rules so much it hurts. There are some pet stores around my place, where you pay $1 or so to hang around some pets, but they mostly have dogs. Cats are way more fun to hang around... and less moist.
