<p>Maybe I'm wrong, but seems like everyone here supporting KOF ans GuiltyGear says "prettier is better, same gameplay is irrelevant"</p>
<p>Is not that what most affected the ps3 in the beggining? most of the same but prettier means automatic failure?</p>

<p>Actually, he's said in a previous article (Was posted on shoryuken.com a few months back) that there was serious internal pressure to not make the game, and that he pushed for it.  So while he didn't make the call himself, I think he pushed for it heavily, and convinced the money guys at Capcom.</p>
<p>Also Capcom had gotten out of making fighters- I don't think they had made a fighter in the last 5 years other then Capcom Fighting Jam, which was a disaster due to being a cut and paste job.  From what I've heard about that project- yeah Ono was behind it, but he gets a pass for it.</p>
<p>That said, it's a good thing he has- the reviews I've seen for SFIV have been overwhelming positive from people who have played it.  (and that includes people who I know are knowledgeable of fighters)</p> <p>arstal</p>]]></description>

Look at moves such as Testament's ExE beast. Really fluid animation. The reason that it has less frames is just to give it a sense speed.</P>

		    <description><![CDATA[<p>Guilty Gear sprites  are beautiful, but they still lacks the fluidity of Street Fighter 3 sprites. Kings of Fighters has excellent battle systems and backgrounds, but dated sprites. Developers have managed to create gorgeous visual effects, yet their characters are still not producing the same detail in animation that SFIII did in 1999.</p>
<p>Why is it that in 2008, characters such as Baiken, Ramon, B.Jenet, Milia Rage, Faust and Iori - who all have side specific features - still look the same reguardless of what side they face? Street Fighter III challenged that problem with characters such as Gill,  Remy, Kolin (Gill's secretary), Necro and Poison. A feat that many 2D fighters still fail to reproduce.</p>
<p>Street Fighter 3 sprites has allot of Pixelation in comparison to the smooth, Hi-resolution sprites of Guity Gear, but utilizes more animation frames than Guilty Gear, creating very detailed movement in character flow.</p>
<p>I think Ono is a bit presumptuous to believe Capcom has done everything they could with perfecting 2D fighting, but he does have some validity in his statement: What more could you add outside of visuals to make SFIII a better game, without it turning into something completely "Un-2D Street Fighter like". I still think Capcom has more to learn with creating 2D fighters, but there really is nothing more they could do with a traditional 2D Street Fighter game without it turning into Guilty Gear, KOF, Rage of the Dragons or The Rumble Fish.</p>
<p>I still can't say taking Street Fighter 3D after a ten year absence is the right decision, but I respect Capcom for wanting to combine the visual appeal of modern fighters, with the solid gameplay of a regular Street Fighter game to create something entirely new. Whether we like it or not, Capcom is trying to garner as much attention as possible, and leaving it 2D may not be the best choice to gain sales regardless of how solid the game is; Just take a look at SFIII.</p>

		    <description><![CDATA[<p>Really? Reeeally? So I guess there was no reason to make ANY of the other 2D fighters you made in the past 10 years, because NONE of them improved upon what SF3 gave us? And NONE of the KOF and other series gave us anything new to the genre?</p>
<p>I'd break out M vs C 2 before SF3, but that's just me. But the argument could be made that 2D fighting has seen as many improvements (graphics aside) as 3D fighting in the past 10 years.</p>
<p>SFIV was NOT in 'planning' for 10 years. It was simply good timing for Capcom to release this new 'styling' to a franchise that has not been played out lately, otherwise it would have been overlooked more easily.</p>

<p>They just didn't make a SF game.</p>
<p>Real reason no SF's were made: SF3 was very expensive to make, and didn't have as much success as they wanted.  If it wasn't for Ono, I don't think SF4 would have been made.  That said, the reports on SF4 gameplay-wise have been positive so far, except for Guile being too weak.</p> <p>arstal</p>]]></description>

<p>That doesn't explain why they didn't try to make another fighting game using the 2D technology they already had. SFIII looked wonderful; hell, SF Alpha 3 looked great even. Are they saying that they've been been frustrated all this time because they couldn't make 3D games like they always wanted to?
