I dunno.. i think Capcoms original intent with the color on the tubes was to invoke the color of moving equipment, hydraulic hoses, high end technology/cooling tubes like a lot of anime and such you see and people just ran with this hotdog thing. I would have liked to see them switch it from a color that contrasted so BRIGHTLY .. to one that was more subtle but still not generic metal cable #5.
A very dark or cobalt blue with black shading for the overlapping scale, high tension wire effect and black stamped serial numbers and military coding stuff would have been just about right. Oh well.

It also looks like they shrunk the arm down some and (though I do gather that it alters its shape) the hand looks smaller and more like a human hand, which I find very disappointing. I want to swing around on a terrifying metal nightmare, not some beefy football player's prosthetic limb.
