Some Christian denominations find any image of the Christ to be idolatrous in nature, particularly if the image is used for prayer. The picture sort of crosses over into Old Testament-style graven image stuff. Either that, or it crosses the streams. ;-)

But most followers seem to think it only works one way, they want praise for the so called good, but whine and bitch when you point out the bad.

I must say that most people aren't a Christian for two primary reasons: They don't like the Christians and in our age Jesus & the Bible are trivialized.

That being said, I don't really care for the Mii. I know what the Church is doing and I think their intentions are great; however, the more we trivialize Jesus, the more people just see him as some guy. He is some guy, but a guy who is the son of God come to show us how to truly live and to save us from sin. That's important to me. If I go to a friends house and the have a Jesus Mii, I won't say anything, but it is important to have a high regard for Christ.

A low analogy may be if you have a son or daughter that you trivialize. You could just think them as some kid living with you, but you should see them as the your offspring who you have devoted your life to protect, and you are the person they look to for wisdom and guidance - that child is more than just a kid living with you.
Anywho, I've said more than enought. If you have a Jesus Mii, enjoy, but don't forget how important a savior is.

Exactly, Sabre. As a Christian (and like the above commenter, a junior programmer and technology-lover) I see this trend as well. People are equating the harsh vindictive "FAGS GO TO HELL" extremes with Christianity as a whole.

In fact, the majority of Christians that hold doctrinally-sound view hold a different purpose. Rather than smugly declaring "YOU WILL GO TO HELL," we'd rather preempt that fate altogether. No reason that the Christ who died for all sinners should suddenly become the head of an exclusive keep-out club of special people. He freely invites all who simply acknowledge Him as Lord to enter his loving mercy and forgiveness. It's a hard road, but it's open to all, and help is there every step of the way.

Now that I'm done waxing theological, I have to say that I don't find this offensive. A bit pointless, perhaps, and mostly a marketing gimmick by yet another low-substance "seeker-driven" church, but not offensive. The God who created laughter takes pleasure in wholesome joy.

To answer Anglon: I think because it's far too easy for people outside a particular worldview to take one look at it and condemn it for all manner of things without taking the time to understand. "It is the mark of a genius to be able to hold two conflicting points of view in equal mind at once." Atheism, for most, drives out all possibility of rational or fair consideration of Christianity - and, I'm afraid, the same is true for Christians concerning atheism.

Anyway, for those who talk about specific Christians gone bad: We Christians are a sinful bunch. That's one of the primary tenets of our belief system. We're no better than any of you - worse than many of you, in some cases. Thing is, we believe it doesn't matter in the end.
