That's exactly why I don't give a flying f for Guinness World Records anymore.

When I was a kid, Guinness World Records were about almost impossible to reach records and titles. Impressive stuff you just don't see everyday.

Nowadays it has become more of a variety show or something. Anyone can break a record. It has become meaningless.

I've seen more cosplayers than that in a single room.. Seriously, this isn't a record for most cosplayers, it's the record for being the first douche-bags to try and claim that record.
Send a single Guinness World Record representative to Japan with a camera. They'll have that record beaten before they even leave the airport.

I was the adjudicator for the attempt yesterday - maybe 80 is not so many by Harajuku standards but the whole point of world records is breaking them, duh!

Anyway it's still a decent number & at least we're certain everyone was actually dressed as a game character, which is much less clear at anime conventions because for the costume to qualify it has to be from a character that appeared in games first. (i.e., Cloud Strife is fine, Son Goku is not)

For this one we had to weed out, like, 20 x Haruhi Suzumiyas, 10 x Light Yagamis, and 1 Ranma 1/2(!) because they aren't videogames characters.
