Wow, I would definiyely buy this, either GH or Rock Band Beatles followed by Led Zepplin, and Queen would all be close to tied for most wanted of these titles. Playing Revolution, or While My Guitar Gently Weeps would be so cool. Right now the closest the Beatles get to my gaming is ripping all the Beatles albums from my cds to my Halo 3 Zune.

A Smashing Pumpkins GH or RB would be great too. Lots of great guitar stuff... and none of these versions would need to be supplimented with music by other bands that this band likes. Ugh.

GH == GUITAR hero for crying out loud. Activision needs to focus on the guitar, that is their "lot in life." Activision needs realize that they got one-upped by Harmonix and play to the strengths of GH.

I understand the desire to have The Beatles, but having their music on GH instead of RB is a crime of epic proportions.

@JustOneFix: While I agree that their music isn't suitd to a GH game (it's too good - sorry but the kind of music that makes GH is terrible and only fun for the kitsch factor), you are wrong to say that there is no complex guitar in Beatles songs. see:

Taxman (Paul's solo)
The End (John, Paul, and George alternating every 2 bars)
Good Morning Good Morning (Paul's solo again)
While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Eric Clapton's cameo)

those are just a few highlights that occur to me first, but you can find many more. Rock Band would certainly be better, however, for Paul's basslines are incredible.

Unless Activision wants to copy Rock Band for a Beatles themed game, it won't make sense. I mean, the vocal line is what really matters in a Beatles song. The guitar track, while perfectly suited to the music, doesn't work well for the Guitar Hero set-up.

Quite funny because Activision or Activision Blizzard is becoming like the other top US video game company, Electronic Arts. Unfortunately, even if either franchise acquired the rights to Beatles music, they'd likely be cover versions. Most of their catalog was recorded in a time that predated modern multitrack equipment. Getting master tapes where the engineers could isolate single guitars (let alone individual drums for Rock Band) would be pretty difficult.

That said, it would be pretty rad to rock out on Everybody's Got Something To Hide, or Hey Bulldog.

I have an idea. Instead of releasing the next version Guitar Hero with just one band on it Activision should make a version with a compilation of different bands. Maybe with a choice of a bunch of great guitar songs on the disc, and then after those got boring they could offer new songs for download. I'm thinking they could call it Guitar Hero II or maybe even Guitar Hero III.

Not only is Rock Band a much better fit for Beatles music, but they are one of the only groups from this era for which original multitrack masters are available -- it just makes more sense. This news saddens me because, well, if Activision gets them you can be damn sure Harmonix won't!

But be honest here -- once Activision actually start negotiating it's going to fall through anyway... Licensing a Beatles tune is regodamndiculous. The only way we will see the Beatles is if the games are hacked for user-made songs or the songs' copyrights expire.

I would seriously shell out $400+ if they would open up rock band to user-made songs and I bet I'm not the only one. Note that this is way more than they will make from me off of lame DLC and much less effort on their part.

The Beatles are one of my favorite bands, but this game just wouldn't work. Their music is not to shred to, but to put on headphones and sit there wondering how they did their studio trickery, and to admire the writing talents. That whole concept just doesn't work in a game series that is more for songs by Priestess or Slayer.

There is no way in hell they are gonna get the rights to those songs. Aerosmith is one thing, getting the rights to the beatles catalog is another, have you ever heard a beatles song in a film that wasn't a cover? How about a commercial? No, because the lisense is sky-high price wise. Not happening.

Best band ever. Maybe not best possible choice for their own Guitar Hero (if only because GH's "target audience is probably under 3).
Anyone ever heard of Metallica (probably 3rd best band ever)? They're money-hungry and they have a huge back catalog of recognizable and enjoyable songs.
