Customizations are rewards for players who spend the time to level up. Your pissed because the bug that allowed you to gain all of the customizations without spending the time in the game was fixed.

Imagine how the people who actually earned the customizations felt when all the noobs with bugs just got the customizations without the time investment.

CTF has been finely tuned over time and is completely different (and even better) than before. CTF was previously ruined by flag campers, that would let the other team capture the flag and then kill the flag carrier just to get the most points.

It's much more balanced now. and your dieing by minds is your own fault. throw a grenade, call in a warhawk etc. you need to play the game and not whine about mines cause you dont know how to defend from them.

It's incredibly balanced and there is no way any person can dominate a match with one vehicle or tactic. There's always counter. What you describe is a good way to beat a pilot that is great at dodging but there's a way to counter that as well.

Let me ask you this. Did you ever go into the Factory level and just drive and fly around it? Find where the mines are, the sniper rifle, all of the zones etc?
Invite a buddy over or start an online game with a friend. Password protect it so no one else can join and just learn the maps and tactics? Once I did that with Omega Dawn, I loved it. I love the size of it and the fact that you need teamwork to co-ordinate your attack and defense to win in that stage. It's too big for lone wolf tactics.

@PSN ID: Kadaj24: what are you complaining about? Mines around the flag is essential Warhawk CTF defense tactics. How often do you play? You complain about that when that tactic is easy as hell to counter. Use the lightning gun, TOW missiles or spread bombs to detonate all of the mines. Have other members of your team on standby with Jeeps and Tanks and roll those suckers in after your warhawks detonate the mines. Come on dude, you didn't know that? How long have you been playing? Personally, I like the ranking system the way it is. It sounds like you were one of those guys that was "ok" at the game or just wasn't good at all and still was able to customize your character and Hawk with some funky setup. Then Incognito said "Naw fam...those ranks are all bullshit and rhetoric and we ain't havin' it" So they fixed the servers busting you back down to noOb levels. You want all that swanky gear...earn it. Get in there and fight. Stop cryin' The ranking proves who has serious skills and who doesn't. I haven't meet a Lieutenant yet that wasn't total kick ass and I haven't met an Recruit that didn't suck.

I didnt cheat, I dont even care about stats, It just pissed me off that I had customized everything and its ridiculously hard to earn them back now. As much as I played after that, I earned nearly nothing back. You rank up at a snail's pace.

Besides the whole stat thing, it still sucks. CTF used to be great, but no one even tries to get it, and all the opposition does is throw a million mines on the flag over and over making it near impossible to get. They need to revamp or get rid of mines. And I dont like having to unload a clip and a half with a machine gun to kill someone. The standard gun is worthless too. Make the guns stronger.

Initially, I hated the game. Was always getting last place in the noob-servers (those were no noobs damnit!). Played CTF (worst decision), and the opposing team always had outstanding teamwork by the clock.... without headsets!! XD

Hook-up the game to a good HDTV (it's unplayable on SDTV), use high-quality headphones or speakers, and let the epic chaotic destruction begin. I love the screeching sound of twisting metal.

Black-flight or whatever doesn't matter - you just lock-on the target with swarmers, boost towards him and at 15-25m distance launch it all. Let him dodge THAT :P. Or just use any type of rockets just to make the pilot nervous, but shooting him down with machinegun. But the two-sticks motion is a great addition, thanks :). I usually played as if it's Ace Combat >_> ^^"

@thegunshow: I hear you, and I think in those situations that's just the limited perspective of the particular gamer. Why buy Warhawk expecting a similar experience to CoD4? Why not just play CoD4? It's stupid. Warhawk is Warhawk and to be fair Warhawk offers more than CoD4 in terms of combat. Although CoD4 is one of the best FPS games made, Warhawk is one of the best third person, tank/jeep/flight/CTF/deathmatch/Zones games ever made.

Telling a couple Warhawks to fly over the flag base and drop bombs and Electrical Charge Rockets to clear it of mines and troops then sending 2 tanks to clean up and 2 jeeps to capture the flag is priceless.

You can play strategically or just go around killing. There are a lot of ways to play the game. Some people just love to fly the Warhawk or drive the tanks around and cause destruction. It is very versatile.

If you're expecting a COD4 or Halo type of experience then this game is not for you. A couple of my friends just recently bought Warhawk because I talk about it a lot but when they played it they said it sucks because the graphic is not as good as they expect and they can't shoot for shit because they're FPS type of guys but the real reason they hated it is because they suck at the game. They both returned it before giving it a chance. Sucks for them.

theres just so much to do in this game. i still play it a lot. from the cramped quarters of small on foot skirmishes to huge epic battles with everythign going on around you.

The patches have made the game better. I will gladly pay for any expansion pack for this game. I dont miss the single player because that probably would have given me 8 hours and i would have forgotten aobut it, where i have prolly 100 hours of playing multiplayer.

500k isnt sales, its people who have played on a ranked server.

Some people dodge differently depending on which control scheme you use but I use Pro-Flight, dual analog controls suit my style of play better than motion but surprisingly, motion controls are pretty damn good too.

Anyways... when your warning alarm goes off when someone is locked on to you push both analog sticks in a the same direction left and right left and right or vice versa sort of like a snaking pattern. Be sure to move up and down too while you're going from side to side. It looks kinda crazy when you first do it but that pattern can be combined with other maneuvers. I like to barrel roll while doing that pattern or climb and then dive depending on the situation. There's a video on youtube that illustrates it pretty good.

The guys I were playing with used different control schemes and one guy in particular was really good at boosting and barrel rolling to dodge missiles. Still can't figure out how he does that. I get smoked when I try his method. If you want to practice it just add me and let me know when you're online and which server you're on.

Anyways, I think the numbers are good. I believe some of you mentioned this before but it didn't have a huge marketing campaign and it released before the PS3 got its big push. I think Warhawk is the best game on PS3 in 07. I still play it to this day, starting in September 07. Personally I like the Omega Dawn level and the Dropship. Omega Dawn is definitely a 32 player level or a 24 player level if you want infinite options for strategy and a well thought out game.

@enewtabie: Dude try playing the DogFight servers. When I first got the game that's how I learned to fly. That and find a consistent way to dodge missiles without using counter-measures. I played Dogfight on Saturday and had a guy chasing me. He launched at least 15 missiles at me and I was able to dodge every one of them. He must have been pissed because he chased me for a couple minutes after that. Good times my friend, good times. Add me and let me know when you're on.

I think the closest I've seen is the "Ladies and Gentlemen" commercials, where they have a Warhawk flying with a SIXAXIS, and half a second of video of a Warhawk flying through an explosion.

They needed to give it more play. A commercial like Uncharted got (though it should have got more airtime too.) You can't expect a console with a low install base to be moved by a game, no matter how good, without some exposer.

What they need to do is make deathmatch kills more valuable (like how COD4 awards 10 xp for a deathmatch kill but only 5 xp for a tactical game kill). Everyone plays CTF because if you score with the flag you get ~25 points... getting 25 kills it usually a feat in Deathmatch.

for an online game. the nubmers are impressive. yeah, i can see how someone that has "halo glasses" could say that the number isn't good, but halo is a freakshow. no game should be put against that. halo is alot simpler to play than warhawk. alot.

hopefully, the new DLC will be cool, and it can't not be. it's free. the new paint jobs are nice touch. hope they pick mine. i say more should get the game. it was the first great game that came out for the PS3. well, that and resistance.

Sure you had cheaters on there, but at least they are cracking down on it. It's great when you play with people who knows what they are doing. I'm not a stat freak who just wantS to rank up...I play just for fun so I mostly play ctf. I find that there's a variety of things you can do in warhawk so it hasn't got old yet, and they update it with new stuff. Stuff that aren't just to steal money from you like EA, the extra stuff are actually worth the update.

I see this title as more of a real-time strategy shooter rather than an actual shooting game. It is more concerned with which base to defend, to capture, and such rather than which part of enemy to shoot, where to hide, etc.

The learning curve is quite steep though, so be prepared to lose a bunch of your free time. But once you get into it, its worth it.

]]> <![CDATA[Warhawk Hits 500,000 Ranked Players]]> I used to LOVE Warhawk until they screwed it all up with their patches, and reseting all my scores, badges, medals, etc. that never came back. This game just pisses me off when I play it now. And the expansion pack was a waste of money I think.
