Bones_Jackson: The 360 version of DMC4 barely outsold the PS3 version. If you include worldwide sales, the game has overall better sales on the PS3.

It used to be a playstation exclusive, so I can definately see that happening. Frankly I'm surprised it sold that well on the 360 since that game is an acquired taste.

Considering that Rock Band is twice the price of GH3, then it's even nicer to see that it's still on the charts. But the fact that it's the Wii version of GH3 that's selling well is of note, especially to the publishers. It's telling that the casual gamers are getting it, given that there's no DLC (and DLC profit$) on the Wii sales.

kftgr

I finally got CoD4 last month and while I am enjoying the single player very much I really don't like the multiplayer. I find it very static and stale gameplaywise. Unlocking shit is cool but other than that every match feels exactly the same, there is just no variety. Of course this is just my opinion (runs and hides from CoD4 fanboys).

Gray665

Wii Play? That makes me realize we still haven't played it since we bought it (two weeks ago). Of course we bought it for the WiiMote that's included in the package.

I had tried it before so I guess I was in no hurry to play it. I'm kinda surprised that my gf hasn't tried it yet though.

I think those games that include free hardware shouldn't really be counted in those top 10s. I mean, it's obvious that people got it for the Wiimote.

Same goes for Brain Age and Wii Sport and Forza and Motorstorm. For a while you couldn't get a system without these games included so it's a bit unfair to rank them along with other best sellers.

but I guess just for stats, it'S all good.

interstate78

@Tepoz: Watch out, if you follow that logic then Nintendogs and Wii Sports are the best games on earth. Different folks, different strokes, etc. etc.

@PerfectGears: DMC always sold well in the US and with the US having 3 times the number of 360's than PS3's sold to customers it would make sense, still, the difference wasn't much and I'd love to see the trend moving into April.

Nintendo has to be at least a little concerned by the software sales. Despite totally dominating the hardware lists they don't make much of an impression on the software lists. Wii Play is an anomoly due to the "free" controller. SMG did well, which is great, and shows that the Wii *can* move software.

PS3 seems to be closing the gap software-wise but 360 is still by far the software king of this gen. That'll narrow of course as the PS3 gets a bigger install base.

BigWeather

@DigitalHero: Stup you! that's 7 DVDs!!! >:(
...
@DigitalHero: That's one way to look at it. Another way to look at it is people who buy PS3's work harder as Kaz said and can afford more games but the 360 being so software-sales-laden is still spreading the love around. The PS2 has over 120 million units out there but no one expects a popular game like God of War 2 to sell 30 million. Their is a limit for user-base with certain types of game. Maybe people like you bought two copies of DMC4 to support the PS3 and maybe people like me went and bought 5 360 games to support the Xbox. I'd even venture to pontificate the idea of some commenter who loves Nintedo went and bought 3 more Wiimotes... who knows really. The point is that the industry is healthy and DMC4 did good. The point ISN'T that the 360's DMC4 sales are weak. That's an idea you are asserting so stop that and go buy a 360 Core unit ;)

okenny :) ...building bridges (to hide under)

It's really ridiculous that PS3 fanboys are bragging about DMC4's higher attach rate when it's the only PS3 game in the top 10 compared to the 360's 5. Of course that one game is going to have a higher attach rate when apperently it's the only game worth buying on the PS3. Talk about spin.

JasonR

@MBCpeanut: Yes, especially since it was, to me, like COD2 set in modern times with upped graphics. It even played exactly the same, but your weapon shoots faster, lol. I hate to say it but the AI didn't seem too different, either.

@Spartan1308: Yes...the graphics...but they're not all that matters, actually, they matter the least for multiplayer experience. The singleplayer needs to be up to a certain standard, but I meant that for the time when those games came out, they made just as good an impression on me as COD4 did. So respectively, for their generation, those titles were plenty there and didn't even get half the buzz (except maybe HL2).

Jandlecack

The 360 version of DMC4 barely outsold the PS3 version. If you include worldwide sales, the game has overall better sales on the PS3.

It really doesn't matter...all it does is prove to Capcom that all their games need to hit multiple consoles. Sure it sucks for the foolish fanboys out there, but its a wise fiscal move.

Call of Duty 4 continues to sell because its a great game and word of mouth is probably keeping sales up. Everyone I know recommends that game to someone...its like crack.

Bones_Jackson

Four quick thoughts:

1. If COD4 is still selling like crazy, how come I get no nibbles on the one I'm selling on Craigs List? Grrrrr.

2. The 360 is still selling crazy numbers of software.

3. When will we see the effects of all these new PS3's in software sales? One game - a classic PS franchise - makes the top 10? Are these people NOT buying Uncharted or Ratchet or something with the console? You would think with fewer catalog titles that some of the games would post some big numbers as people grab some games to play on their new console. Curious.

4. I wish I sold used PS2 games, because they must be selling like crazy with all these new buyers.

lionkitten
