So it's only natural that the views and oppinions written in Hörzu represents all of Germany ! ]]> <![CDATA[Germans Make The Worst Halo Jokes]]> Okay, as a German and Marunde-Fan I'll try to explain what's going on. Marunde is normally making jokes about the most rural parts of Germany contrasting high-tech lifestyle.

Think this kind of "Hot Fuzz" humor, when a Big-City guy comes to this narrow minded bugeois hicktown, where most people didn't get a long lasting school education, but inherited the farm of their dads, and grand dads etc.
Then along come some new-rich people who are fed up with the stressful city life and expect a backwater village to be exactly as comfortable like their city minus the stress.

So in this context: The couple in the front is probably such a new-rich couple (as they are not wearing rubber-boots or drive farm machinery as the stereotypical farmers or hunters in other Marunde Cartoons do) and normally look down on the other peasants.

Now there is their neighbour. With a shiny new house. Normally you would expect the owner wearing a suit, and driving a shiny SUV or luxury car (Marunde often paints these people in BMW's or Mercedes). Instead you see their Neighbour in a Master Chief Armour parking a Ghost in the driveway.

Acting as if this is the most normal thing in the world, the couple in the front have this conversation. Probably the reason for them not freaking out in a "ZOMG! This Alien Dude has a spaceship thing!" is because then they had to admit that they don't have the best house / car / whatever compared to the other "poorer" villagepeople anymore.

So it's not the wording that's supposed to make it funny.

Having not seen other Marunde Cartoons will therefore make this Cartoon unfunny, unfortunately.

So yes, seen alone without knowing the usual background of the other "normal" Marunde Cartoons, this Cartoon is unfunny.

Well, I'm German and as far as I'm concerned, this comic isn't funny. But it get's funnny after Kotaku made this humorous bash. The strip isn't meant to be hilarious, it's shows that to many old people over here aren't involved into gaming. Like our politicians, who try to ban every shit. I'm quite sure most of them never heard about the Master Chief. So it's more criticism of the society than a joke every German can laugh about.

Is it just me or does the woman look like Liz Sheridan (aka Raquel Ochmonek from ALF)? Maybe that's the hidden joke...

Who the hell thinks that a "funny Comic" in the first place? On top of that in the greatest German "Magazine". To appreciate how stupid it is even more, you have to know this is a goddamn TV MAGAZINE for 60+ people. Would that in the least be funny to a bunch GERMAN nerdy bloggers, gamers & commenters? That must be a very special mindset you have to be in to pretend that much, too, methinks.

Other than that, at least he drew a cool piece of art, I give him that much!

But, aside from misplacement, the really bad thing about this comic is that it's 10 Months too late to be swept up in that whole hype thing and all. Maybe then some fanboys would've found this a bit chuckle-funny.

But that's world famous HÖRZU for you I guess, only ahead of their time (2 weeks) when it comes to TV programming!

You can do better, McWerthor, than dig out that obsolete, from the beginning totally misfired comic, spat out at now two totally wrong target groups overall. I smell misalignment on all fronts here ;)

And you can't write this one funny for a bunch of true humor connoisseurs like present on this here page, or CAN you:

And "Hörzu" ("Listen!") is a TV magazin for people like my granny. I dont know why it's in there the first place.

While it's clearly not Marunde's best, I still found it funny. Marunde's style is never a "omg how funny lol" style, he uses a more subtle approach in making fun of everyday life (often in form of dialogue between neurotic farm animals, by the way).

In case you missed it: the whole point of the cartoon, and I really hate to explain that, is, that this elderly couple don't even care about Master Chief's outfit or the gun - they merely run their mouth about his supposed employment (computer games, how odd!) and how big his car is.

]]> <![CDATA[Germans Make The Worst Halo Jokes]]> Are they reffering to an SUV or one of those crazy offroad Unicats that our Euro friends are so fond of. They are over the top offroad vehicles that are built for European tourists to drive through war zones in Africa.

It might then be mildly funny in a futuristic military equipment = vacation vehicle to affluent Germans.
