Those calculations are meaningless unless you take into account the pixel aspect ratio. For instance, D1 resolution is 720x486 but the image is still 4:3 because the pixels are 9:10. If it's anamorphic D1, the resolution is the same, but the image aspect is 16:9 because the pixel aspect is 6:5. And if the frame is cropped in anyway, all bets are off.

When I come across used games that I personally wouldn't buy(scratchs and shit), I tell the customer so and refuse the sale.

I allow the customer to make their own choice after I've given them my personal opinion on the matter. If they still want it then so be it.

Also, the dudes getting pissy at me for saying a game like Bullet Witch sucks....shows how stupid you are. Respect my opinion. I respect your opinion for liking a terrible game.

I love the phoenix wright games and katamari games. Some of my customers say they sucked ass.

It's all fine and well giving advice to people, but some of us do research and fancy trying something out anyways. I read reviews of BulletWitch - I knew it wasn't going to be fantastic - but I bought it anyway. You know what, I'm glad I did too, as while it's an inconsistent, often frustrating, unpolished game, I had fun with it overall.

I'd have no problem with a shop assistant or whatever saying "you know, BulletWitch hasn't had the best reception, you know much about it?". In a lot of ways doing so is quite nice, as it's true that there are people out there who blind purchase and end up regretting it. But I'm not one of those people, so if my reply is "Yeah I saw some not so great reviews, but I fancy buying it anyway", then you'd damn well better let me buy the thing.

I'd also be pretty fucking furious if I found out some shop assistant with a dislike of one of my games was refusing to sell it to customers. Totally not their place.

And gamerankings, in my opinion, is pretty iffy, at best. Besides the inherent squishiness of rating games, there is the fact that they "convert" many non-number reviews to numbers, which seems even MORE inexact.

I still maintain that PS2, for example, has so many shit games just because there are SO MANY games. Percentage-wise, Wii fans should be alarmed at the shit software at this time.

And no you're not getting my name, nor store number nor area I'm at. I do a damned fine job working there and I'm not the only one that "educates" the moron consumer that doesn't do research about games.

I hate when people make blind buys new, then bring the game in and get reduced trade in credit for it, then bitch about it. I've been burned too many times. (ahem bullet witch/two worlds)

BTW, one guy brought Turok in the next day after it came out. He even reserved it. Reason he traded it in....Wasn't like Gears. What an idiot.

Looking at the list of Wii games Konami released is rather frightening. Every single one of them, with the exception of this and Pro Evolution Soccer, is geared specifically towards kids. Nothing wrong with kids games, but "Target: Terror" is the only Mature one of the bunch. It's almost as if they WANT it to fail so they have an excuse to ignore the mature Wii userbase. "See?" they'll say, "Mature games don't sell on Wii!"

i guess the point i'm trying to make is condemning a game just because it has less-than-average graphics just seems a tad... shallow, doesn't it?

Go to gamerankings and the PS2 has 39 games rated below 50%. The Wii currently has 5. PS2s lowest is at 32.5%, Wiis is at 37%. The default is 20 reviews to be counted.

If you take the amount of reviews needed to count down to 5 (which is a crazy low number) it turns into PS2 - 120, Wii - 26. With the PS2s lowest title at 16% and Wii's at 17%.

So the Wii still has an extremely long way to go before it catches up to the PS2 in terms of awful games. It's just for some reason we hear a lot more about bad wii titles than we did about bad PS2 titles.

It's a midrange game like Lost Planet that many will enjoy, but will never be a AAA title either. I love Lost Planet, but I don't proclaim it the greatest or awesome or somethign everyone must own. It's fun for the $20 I paid for it.

There's lots of games that get deemed shitty by people that clearly didnt even play the game and I'm positive the person claiming Bullet Witch sucks never played it. Just looked up its review score and decided it was bad based on the fact publishers didnt pay the reviewers enough money.

How a bunch of hte posts turn into hate posts about 8.0 range games when it should be going down the usual 'lol Wii sucks' or 'shovelware no games but Nintendo' type flame war is a mystery to me.
