Obviously, the current generations can almost all admit to playing some kind of video game in their lifetime. So, most likely if you ask any criminal off the street (or off the prison, if you will), they will most likely tell you that yes, they have played Mortal Kombat at least once in their lives at the arcade or home.

So, whenever a violent crime occurs, will it become a standard practice for media outlets to immediately start investigating what video games the suspect had played in their entire past? Why don't they also investigate and lay blame on the books that they have, the dvds that they have bought, and the movie/video downloads on their hard drives to see if they have a large collection of horror movies/books that actually may have influenced their borderline schizophrenic behaviour?, And why isn't there more finger-pointing towards Hollywood movie creators of Saw, Seven, Scream , etc as well as writers like Stephen King et al.?? HUH?? Why do video games get all the bad press??? WTF!?!?

Can some organization, educational group or governing body step in and inform the mass media to stop with the video game bashing and make them start realizing that we need to concentrate our efforts more on educating the public on how to stop violent behaviour from happening, such as how to read the warning signs of unstable people in advance, before they trigger into psychos?

Everyone is going to have a different opinion, just remember that words mean nothing. They're not real; only illusions to incite emotions. You would like to distance yourself from such madness and even extirpate it all together to make yourself feel good when you should just be prudent enough to not let it affect you. People can be banned all day long but that exclusively morale environment isn't going to come anytime soon.

I really wish some of you kotakuites would witness a breathless child before spewing nonsense. I have seen a child, for no reason except for a tribal tension, come back from the field without eyes, limbs, and some that just seemingly die the next day without reason.

Now things are being put into perspective. The aunt and stepmother can try to place blame solely on Lamar Roberts by making him out to be the manipulative villain who corrupted an innocent girl all they want, Heather Trujillo still contributed to her sisters death by not doing a damn thing to stop what inevitably happened.

Anybody with the slightest sense of intuition can tell this has nothing to do with a video game, and that this was just the realization of what was bound to happen as long as that child stayed in that house. A mother with 20 complaints of abuse directed toward the same child who is now deceased and people actually want us to believe the daughter wasn't bound to simulate the abusive nature of her mother in some way at some point? I'd say lock the mother up too because by her showing that abusing a child is acceptable nature, she in turn gave the ok for her own daughter to act as she did. But since I'm not one to believe a capable person can't distinguish right from wrong, Heather Trujillo still needs to be locked up for the murder she contributed to on her own volition.

People need to look at the reality of this situation: These two murdered a child. There is nothing you can say to change this fact. Placing the blame on a game was never going to somehow justify or excuse their actions. They both deserve to be punished to the fullest extent the law can bestow upon them for their crimes. Let people like prosecutor Robert Miller try to connect games to a violent crime, only fools would buy any of it.

I'm glad there was an update on this. Of course it wasn't just some video game that killed a kid! A bad guy had his hold over a girl and she ended up killing someone who was innocent. Nothing to do with video games.

Besides this, I utterly fail to put into words the disgust I feel about this whole story.

I mean, I consider hitting a woman a really bad thing. It's honorless, shameful and pretty much a solid statement of the absence of honor, character and maturity. Now, hitting a child ... this is even worse. I'm not talking about slapping here, I mean hitting, like, with a fist. Kicking's just the same. It's just ... plain outright evil.

Both of it combined, hitting a LITTLE GIRL until she FRIGGIN' DIES because of the injuries - all doing so while ignoring the weeping, crying, bleeding ... and not feeling responsible for it afterwards, trying to shunt it on games ...

The real monsters do not reside in games.

I live in Omaha, which was the site of a pretty bad mall shooting last December. My girlfriend worked at a Gamestop at the time and almost immediately after the story broke her store was getting calls from various reporters asking if he had purchased any games from her store, and if any of them were violent.

Seriously, what ever happened to just calling idiots what they are? Does the media seriously have to dig into every negative story until they find a weak video game link and then exploit it all the way to the front page?
