How about putting Prequel Anakin in as an alternate costume for Vader. Yoda's could be "Original Trilogy Yoda", where he lacks a lightsaber or even the ability to jump. He could just drop X-Wings on peoples heads.

I really hate the inclusion of the Star Wars characters, but what's done is done.

Hopefully after a few months release they will allow DLC so both systems can have both characters.

Didn't Namco say they had plans to include more than just Vader and Yoda? Plus with DLC they could easily add more fighter characters for a fair price.

Aethestically speaking the 360 cover looks nicer. Dark covers tend to muddle the characters. Both versions look decent and since I pretty much hate Star Wars I couldn't give a rats ass about Darth Yader and Voda.

Vader's not so hidden secret is that he basically sucks at light saber fighting.

Consider:

[Is a spoiler alert even close to necessary?]

In Ep. 2 he hacks up a bunch of sand people and then gets promptly beaten by an 80 year old Christopher Lee.

In Ep. 3 he kills a bunch of six year olds and then gets hacked to pieces by Obi Wan Kenobi. Oh, and he chops off Mace Windu's arm while his back is turned. (Nice!)

In Ep. 4 he again faces Obi Wan Kenobi (who is now an elderly hermit) and only beats him because the elderly hermit version of Obi Wan LETS HIM WIN.

In Ep. 5 Vader actually, finally, wins a sword fight! Unfortunately it is a fight against a 20 year old kid who has never been in a lightsaber duel before and who, until recently, worked on a farm.

[Plus Vader basically cheats (by using the Force to throw objects at him) because he can't actually beat the 20 year old farm kid in a straight up sword fight.]

In Ep. 6 that same farm kid from Episode 5 beats him quickly and decisively.

Not to say Vader isn't deadly. It is just that Soul Caliber is a sword fighting game and Vader happens to suck ass at sword fighting. He loses at least one limb in three movies.

Vader for two reasons, cause vader is badass and yoda is going to be just a spazz I suspect, a la Episode II in the Dooku fight. And second cause the 360 (and xbox 1) controller buttons mush out from use, and tend to feel sluggish.

I like both covers. The PS3 has the dark, sleek look to it. With Vader ominously looking down at you. While the 360 has a really nice, fresh, clean look to it.

However, I'll be picking up the Vader version, seeing as I don't own a 360. I do want to fight as Yoda though, so I hope he's available to download at some point on the future.

Vader and Yoda will be banned for tourney, so I'm not too worried about it. (Console exclusive chars are always banned- since you can't practice against them if you're on the wrong system)

This will be a definite get, but I hope it doesn't suck, or I'm going to be playing VF5 a lot longer...

I actually prefer the Yoda box art. I think the Vader box art is too dark with red overkill. Even though I used to think the Vader character was Bad-ass Episode IV kind of killed off a lot of what the original movies had gone to such lengths to build up. I haven't played Soul Calibur III so I hope it's still good, and I wonder why they dropped the whole "Soul Edge" beginnings (Soul Calibur: Soul Edge V).

...am I the only one who thinks it is weird to see fucking Darth Vader on the Soul Calibur box? I know they put him on there to grab attention and maybe sell a few more copies to people not familar with the franchise for whatever reason, but it's not like Darth Vader is some core character in the series.

They did that same thing with SC2 with Spawn/Link/Heihachi. Wasn't too crazy about it then either.

@rockmanjoey: Yeah, another bad move. True, it's a good way to sell the game, but I wasn't a happy camper when my PS2 version only had Heihachi...HEIHACHI!! For crying out loud, couldn't they have picked up Dante from DMC or SOMEONE badass? But thankfully, after playing as Spawn, I was kinda happy the Xbox owners got him cause I thought he sucked. Link was a good choice for the GC version, I'll admit.

It's strange because I never expected Star Wars characters in SC in the least. I figured they were done with the cameos.

Owning a 360 aside, I honestly think it'd be more interesting playing as Yoda than Vader. Vader is you standard height for a fighting character, while Yoda has a much shorter stature. To me that would translate to a potentially more unique moveset.

@kingme: And if you think about it, Vader is the only main character who survived all 6 films.

That'd be true if it weren't for the troublesome fact that he died in RotJ.

Im gonna go for Yoda. While I think Vader is ''cooler'' I get this feeling his play style is going to be very similar to mitsurugi. Whereas with Yoda im interested how he will work. I mean can high and medium attacks even hit him? How does his fighting style work? All spinning slashes with the saber?

Kinda strange choices for characters though. Then again Heihachi and Spawn were strange choices too (super modern spawn and no weapons, no one cares Heihachi). Im sure there must be better choices.

Just took a look at the Soul Caliber II box art across all versions and Namco did the same thing by putting the "guest" fighter top centre. So no real surprises here.

Still, I don't care how angry they make Yoda look, the PS3 version is much more badass. Makes me wish I had a PS3.
