Am I the only one who's noticed that anime games based on series about superpowered fighting (i.e. DBZ, Bleach) never realize their full potential?

I've already had this for the past year and a half or so now. I'm not even a fan of the source material but these games are great.
The nerfs and tweaks made to a good portion of the cast (i.e. Ichigo's Bankai is completely overhauled, that little pink haired girl is no longer a low kick spamming machine) make it the best fighter on the DS, and the most refreshing fighter i've played in a few years .

I've played Blade of Fate extensively and I'm really pleased they're releasing a second game. Blade of Fate had a good fighting mechanic (think capcom's VS series) and solid visual style. I thought balance could use a bit of tweaking though (there were really only handful of good characters).

can't wait for this new game!

Bleach DS 2nd was fun, and it will probably be worthwhile to be able to play it in English, provided I don't have to listen to terrible English voice acting (if this is indeed a localized version of that).
Finally, I'll be able to read what those damn cards say instead of just tapping them and hoping they do something good.

I just picked up the DS counterpart to the new Bleach Wii and I'm actually having massive fun with it. It feels like Street Fighter Alpha with a healthy dose of Bleach themed fun, as well as the controls being responsive and pleasant to use. The little card based bonus/penalty combat system is a little redundant I guess but it's still fun to use to ruin someone's day or turn around a rather humiliating defeat into a combo-filled win.
I look forward to this one as well.

I love Bleach DS 2nd: Kokui Hirameku Requiem. Ive had it since it came out in japan. Only thing I hate about it is its A-B-C-D storyline to unlock things. If you dont do things correctly in the story line you can forget about unlocking them. Some of the unlocking events are a pain in the butt. One includes racing Yachiru back and forth between the 2 plains of the games. The harder the level, the faster she is.

This isn't a new game. It's Bleach the 2nd being brought to America. They are following up from bringing the first one.

Brian, congrats on a poorly written news post. You made everyone confused.

Bleach the 2nd doesn't take place between seasonb 1 and 2. Baldy has Bankai. He got that in the Arrancar arc, that was I'd say about Season 6. Your way off. Season 1 was when he found out he had the powers and season 2 was when they were trying to get into soul society.

Yeah, I have imported the first two bleach games for the DS. This one is the second one and it's fighting system is a bit more balanced.
Seriously, since it's developed by Treasure it has a pretty good fighting system. If you like Bleach and Guilty Gear - it'll be a match for you. Granted it's not as complicated as Guilty Gear, it's still a very decent fighter.

@dashyt2dafulliz: I play it without cards... It's still good. The cards are just there to enhance combat, but people play without cards or using the touch screen for specials. :( I only use it to do a Bankai. the 2nd bleach fixed the little exploit with the touch screen where little 12 year olds would keep tapping a special the perform the move and spam the shit out of it. Now there's a lag time between repeating moves.

@KeroseneClimax: Well, I'm just going by the ones I've played, got gifted, or bought. I haven't played any of the PS2 ones... I don't have a modded PS2 or didn't bother with region encoding. The one on the GC was played at a Mom n Pop store in my area.

@Amazon_Chris: I just got the psp one...Part 4 to be exact. Yea it's in 3D and looks good. But the combat is nowhere near as good as it is in the ds games. The psp games feal like just a cash in of the franchise. Where the DS Bleach games have some thought put into them.

Heh...I just bought Bleach: The Blade of Fate this past January, and now they go and announce the sequel's release so soon after! Still, I've really enjoyed my time with the first one. It's surprisingly deep for a handheld fighter, and I actually enjoyed playing around with a majority of the characters, which is something I tend to do in any fighting game.

Anime-based games tend to have the same issue as movie-based games; that is, tending to suck. But I'll give it to Treasure; they turned in a fun and solid fighter I can take with me anywhere, and since fighting games are fairly rare on handhelds as it is, having a good one is really pretty nice.

I hope they remove the joke characters as there were just toooo many in the Jap Bleach 2nd and it was too similar to Bleach 1 with minor changes.

Still doesnt take away Treasure's awesomeness!

But I hate the card powerup system, goddamit this is a fighting game not yugi oh or pokemon cards. Thats why I still prefer Treasure's original Yuyu hakusho fighting game for the Genesis

I have the import version. its very fun. dont think ill pick up a 2nd copy, but if your on the fence i say go for it. lots of unlockables, good charcter roster and solid 2d fighting gameplay. Only thing I dont like is that the card system is a bit odd, I just ignore them mostly.

I absolutely love the 2nd one in Japanese. Hope they'll localize correctly. Sadly, I couldn't understand it and didn't unlock everyone, but I still owned with Ichigo:( The ones on the PSP that was imported weren't all that great save for one.

So this is the English version of Bleach DS 2nd: Kokui Hirameku Requiem. I bought that game when God Of War 2 came out. It was pretty damn fun (considering I'm very skeptical of anime based games). I might try the English one out.

As for Heat the Soul, Just release 1 and 4. That "let's release the same game with enhancements" crap is one of the main reasons I can't stand many anime games. The Heat the Soul series got so repetitive, I didn't even want to touch 4.
