Although after reading the article heading "How to selectively read Kotaku", I had thought this post would let us know how to cut out those posts we're not interested in :/. I vaguely remember you can do it at Giz for Apple-related stuff, etc, but I can't remember how.. Perhaps a reminder of that is also in order!

aelfin

@fuchikoma: There's an anecdote I've heard about chess master Bobby Fischer.

He was at some chess group meeting or club and the other members were avidly discussing some important current event of the moment. He put up with this for a few minutes before testily interrupting: "What the hell does any of this have to do with chess?!?"

Bobby Fischer died recently, crazy, broke, and not playing chess anymore. Thoroughly discredited, his only remaining mourners were his wife, Dick Cavett, and Iceland.

I actually think that's a cool merit-based design, but it also means getting posts like "Beatles or Stones?" that'll generate a lot of passionate opinions but relates to gaming only by the thinnest of tangents.

@nxp3: I read Kotaku everyday and I can't recall any dupes (not that they don't happen, but if they were frequent I'd remember). Are you sure you're not mistaking follow ups with dupes? Sometimes they even use the same pictures so it might look like a dupe. I think Kotaku does a great job with avoiding duplicates (better than sites like fark).
Anyway, thanks for the feeds guys! This will make it even easier to read Kotaku on the go. Keep up the good work, we surely appreciate. Cheers!

bonecows

Thanks Guys!

The only problem I have seen with the tags is sometimes you guys can tag, for example a Nintendo article as only "Nintendo DS" or the games title etc so hitting the main Nintendo tag to see all the news regarding that company doesn't really come up with all of the articles that really have somethign to do with it.

But I do admit tagging articles must take up a bit of time. Besides that I enjoy scrolling through the whole of kotaku anyway, because with tags, you never know what interesting and bizarre articles you could be missing ;D

Oh and bouncing an idea off edges reply, the only added feature I would really love is for there to be a little button you could press to see all the times people have "@username" replied to you. This way you couldn't miss replies from others on articles that are a bit older...

Of course I don't actually think that it's even a possible thing to implement, but maybe if Kotaku ever got a major overhaul? :D

satek
