They seriously need to fix their website design. It's about as bad as Gamespy's website. It really doesn't feel intuitive at all. So I'm hoping when they free up some capital, they have some money to pay their art and web people and make something that works much better.

Was sad to hear they were bankrupt. I really do like listening to all of their editors, they seem to have a lot of fun and have some really great opinions on video games. Its just they need to work on their webpage a bit. I really don't actually read many of the features on the site because of it.

The Magazine on the other hand reads really well.

@skrame: I second that, i also need EGM for the pooper, my friend used to bring his laptop with him to the pooper, but thats overboard + it dropped and destroyed half of his USB ports (dont ask me why USB ports it just did)

EGM needs to get rid of Dan Hsu. While I appreciate his stance on journalistic integrity, I loathe his "casual gamer" opinions on games. He is a spoiled rotten "connoisseur" that forgets that the average gamer is not so privileged. EGM should be a magazine for real gaming enthusiasts like it used to be.

Funny you should say so. That EGM and GFW aren't afraid to be opinionated is one their biggest draws for me. Generic, by-the-numbers game reporting is what the internet is for.

Anyway, any review that claims to be non-opinionated is dubious nonsense.

@diablodevil2: They need more ad dollars to make bigger issues. Every full page ad pays for a couple of pages of editorial. Since a lot of spending is going online, it will be a tough proposition(at least for EGM).

I have to say, EGM and 1up Network have been in a nosedive for a long time. I've been subscribing to EGM since the NES days, and every issue over the past 10 years the magazine has been getting thinner and thinner on content, and more and more biased and opinionated.

The same goes for 1up. Personally, if in the circumstance that Ziff did go under, I'd have nothing to say but good riddance.

@diablodevil2: I didn't read during that era, but I remember issues of the early 90s reaching upwards of 300 pages. Every month you'd get a tome in the mail with bad Street Fighter art on the cover. It was like a mini holiday every time one arrived.

@diablodevil2: Semi-agreed. They should just go entirely online. No self-respecting gamer gets their news from magazines anymore anyway. The only reason to read EGM is for the exclusives, and those hit the internets within hours of hitting newsstands.

Since EGM is the only good thing left out of ZD publications I am glad to hear that they will likely pull out of this. I used to have their Expert Gamer mag and then it changed to GameNOW. Was not a fan. Then GameNOW disappeared.
