Okay, I've read a number of posts now that go something like this: "I hope you can access the store on the PSP."

That can be done now using Remote Play. You just connect to the PS3, take over the XMB, and go right into the Store. I've used this interface to do downloads and demo installs remotely. I also use RP to access content stored on my TVersity server.

The real question is: will the video rentals work via Remote Play? Currently, you are not able to watch Blu-Ray discs via RP. I'm not sure why that is, but I hope they loosen up that restriction if at all possible.

Considering that this fucking store is on the verge of being TWO years late to the party, Sony might want to get its act together and release the damn thing. Excuse me but what in the BLUE HELL do retail partners have to do with this? A digital download store only takes revenue AWAY from the best buys and circuit cities of the world if people buy music, movies, and tv shows on it. Unless these guys are getting a sweet deal on PSN network cards and other prepaid cards with which we consumers have to buy content, I dont understand why retail partners get to see it before we do. And what exactly makes it worth showing off if there is only ONE content provider here. Sony has a pretty big movie studio and a pretty damn big record label but until they get the level of support that iTunes and XBLM do, this is basically not that big a deal.

XBL you are not actually paying to play multiplayer games, you are paying for all the extra features XBL has, though the twist is, you cannot play games online with XBL if you do not pay.

Playing games online really is the ONLY thing that matters with online.

Anyway I can play muiltiplayer games online, and download stuff to and I don't pay jack squat.

Enjoy payng $50 a year for things I can do for free on a PC, and even PS3.

I'd say Sony is in the best position to have their own movie download service, since they own movie studios. Microsft, Netflix, w/e doesn't. Right there you have Sony's movies exclusive to Sony's download service. No other online service will have that.

Well I guess Apple could also get Disney exclusive on iTunes... but they are also Blu-Ray exclusive so they might share with Sony.

Or maybe instead of the next format war, it will download service war with services fighting over movie studio exclusives.

Who knows, ignore this post, just a lot of rambling.

And called me old fashioned but i still prefer going to blockbuster and browsing around and taking whatever instead of the whole waiting thing, especially since most of my rentals are usually on impulse anyways. Can't wait! Hope its not gay like the Live Market Place's "rental" movies (one view only). Since Sony owns movie, television and music here's hoping that there is little to no DRM and also hoping that the content will be cheaper since Sony owns a hell of a lot of content. The store just makes sense for Sony since they own all that content all ready.
I still DO NOT see the digital distribution taking off over Blu-ray/ physical media (in the next 6 years). People would rather own a physical copy of a game/movie especially since it can be re-sold. Digital copies can not be resold at any store like gamestop or ebay and they cost the same as the retail hard copy. Why pay the same for a copy you cant sell anyway. Plus your gonna need a HUGE HDD for HD content. It took 2 hours to d/l Southpark in HD (Good Times With Weapons, 1.1GB) on the Live Marketplace, how is that practical for a 50gb movie with extras. PS most of America doesn't have a computer with the internet and at least 1/2 - 1/3 the people who have the internet use dial-up. If digital distribution is supposed to be #1 in a few years where is this content going to be stored; computers, PS3, 360? Heck most people don't have a DVR still, where is all this storage and tv interconnectivity come from, I remember those media center pc's flopped.

@EdwinJ85: Live Arcade? Really? I mean, VC was announced before we heard the name "Wii", before the 360 was launched. And Shareware games have been around on PC for a couple decades now... With the new gen all having some sort of internal storage, I'm sure each of them planned on downloadable games as part of their strategy, so Arcade meant basically nothing. It wasn't original, it was organic; it was the natural next step.

Live arcade wasn't a new idea either, they took existing concepts and put them together in the nice little bundle of Live. Love the video store on xbox live already, so willing to give this a try, they just need to fix the super slow download speeds that everyone seems to get from the playstation store. With movie companies already signed on with sony for blue ray maybe they would be able to get a better selection than live has going also.

Can always hope at least, seems like half of the movies I want to download on Live aren't in HD or aren't available for download at all.

@Most Wanted: Sounds reasonable for me, but it'll be hard to get studios into it, maybe it'll happen if Sony makes it a standard feature on the movies they own. The iTunes Direct thingy in the Family Guy SW DVD case was kinda like that, but of course if you bought it already on iTunes it didn't refund the purchase or anything like what you're saying.

I'd like to be able to 'rent' the movie and then if I like it and buy the BD version be able to use BD LIVE to register that bought copy and get my rental fee back.
