Not all games are like this, or deserve this criticism, but some do. I hate it when people against ultra voilent games get totally shut out by gamers. The point they are making is that some games are like this, and they are correct. Then comes along a site like Kotaku, and they try to bash the guy by saying he spelled the game wrong or cant remember what the console is. Ya, that totally makes is point invalid!

Both sides need to use their brains. Lots of Gamers think its fun to live the "gangster" lifestyle and shoot at dumb cops (when in reality cops would blow their heads off). Any criticism of their game will cause them to freak out and make excuses, trying to say anything to ruin the accusers credibility. Then again, some people do accuse game unfairly, and they need to be held accountable.

Our own consciousness shouldn't be handed over to the government. In New Zealand we have R18 games and only four games that have been banned (manhunt, postal 1 and 2, and reservoir dogs). However I'm not sure how strict the retailers are at checking ID, I'm 19 and I've never been checked when buying an r18 game (I've only bought two).

Who cares if someone kills someone, shoots them, jumps off a bridge and commits suicide, or even rapes someone(not that any games have had rape since those adult Atari cartridges) because they aren't doing it in real life. What's that you say? It's training you? No, I don't think so. Training someone to overcome the struggle of another human being and to kill them is not possible in a simple game. You'd be better off learning anatomy to figure out where the vital organs are places. That leaves only one option: It stops these sickos before they can do something. That means the less deranged of society can pick up a game and prevent themselves from hurting others. Of course, it's not like it'll stop everyone, but it's a start. And it's not like you can point to games as a direct cause of anything. TV doesn't help, but people no longer consider it "evil child brainwashing device" and now it's just ignored. It's an endless cycle and somewhere along the lines people need to learn their lesson and just not call everything new that catches on evil. I mean, it's not like some evil brainwashing device would just get out into the public and end the world as we know it! No! That's just what Fox News wants you to believe.
