Yars Revenge. That's a franchise that needs a rebirth. That game was incredibly awesome. HS Warshaw designed the game. I'd love to see a game design like Yars revenge test the limits of PS3 and Xbox- and who knows what could be done with Wii.

boulin99

I can only hope that Atari DOES look into its vast library to revive some of their older titles, especially from Accolade -- some excellent titles can be found there.

It does seem a little late for him to jump into the online pool, though. But, hey, the water's already warm, and there's still a little bit of room left. Go for it, Atari! Just leave your terrorists at the gate, thank you.

boopadoo

Here's what I'd like to see: an Atari 2600/7800 Channel on VC/Wii. A 'Channel' to download for the Wii menu that acts like a virtual 2600, and the games could be bundles (either prepackaged or your selection) of 4 or 5 games for 100 points per bundle. It has to be really cheap, as you can buy many of these for $0.25 @ the flea market nowadays. I'd toss my extra points towards a few super-duper-old school games once in a wihle if the option was there. I think it would be a real feather in the cap of Nintendo's VC service to have Atari in some form on there anyways. An extra bonus is that there are TONS of games for the old Atari systems, so a bundle of 4, 5, or even 6 games could go live every monday, along with one or two higher-profile re-releases.

And I don't know how good it would work in practice, but theoretically I think it would be cool if the Wiimote could act as a virtual joystick of sorts, held vertical and using only the A or B buttons for firing. If they could make it work, that would be pretty awesome.

CruiseElroy

I think this is probably the route that Atari needs to go and it makes sense with their library of games. The good games that anybody remembers by Atari is from the early days of 2600. Those games were all quick play games and they have no relevance on today's consoles as updates with what we expect from games. I mean I don't ever want to see Asteroids with its main character being Capt Jackass who has to save Princess Sucksbag from the evil empire of the Terrene, all with his spaceship the Impossible taking down Terrenian boulder ships. This game of course includes HD graphics, the latest in surround sound, and revolutionary gameplay. I don't expect that from the game Asteroids and I don't think anybody else does either! Those games should be free-to-play games on websites simple as that and I'm more than happy that Atari could go this route. That just makes sense.
