Other things I would appreciate, a much expanded exploration aspect, greater mobility (Athena's blades style grappling hook?), and more interesting level design. Also, the enemies need to more interesting to fight. The were to simple, and sometimes too annoyingly cheap.

The first 1/2 hour, and 1st two boss fights were great though. I have a feeling it is just going to be rehash though. Ah well

Cos they don't know when they'll launch it. And that's likely because it'll take a while so my guess is 2009. I really think God of war is a bit more mass market an action game than DMC or Ninja gaiden though. Kinda flashier and less difficult, not too bad but I prefer a challenge, more weapons, harder AI and stuff. The few weapons in God of war made the combat a little repeptitive. It should be different this time since they always do add stuff but Ninja gaiden got it right the first time so I'm waiting for NG2.

I'm looking forward to this a little (really want to see what they can do with the PS3) but till I see footage or in-game shots then I never let myself get excited. It just builds up your hopes and often those aren't met.

first, i think it's highly likely the guys who made gow2 had a little rest and then started in earnest on gow3...
second, there was that odd article by some bbc chap who said he saw some game with 'storyline and graphics which set a new standard for next gen' - mentioning it would be out in 2008. i think gow3 fits that description (or it should)
third, it's one of sony's biggest exclusives, and with that they can really push psn / home / psp connectivity support - which are the things they're pushing hard this year.
i can't think of a fourth, but i do think if sony did somehow get it out this year they would be well on their way to turning the fortunes of the ps3 right around.

i have to say i really enjoy god of war (etc) - not only is the action good fun, but my rudimentary knowledge of greek and roman mythology helps me appreciate all the fun little touches. (i do recognise all the characters by name and predicament)

@CONFUSEDgam3r: Those announcements are great. My point to the guy though was that I was curious as to this week suprising him. Everything that has been announced has been in the works for a while. Unless he bought a launch 360, I don't know why he would choose a 360 if those things were so important to him.

On topic: As with most good games, I do not expect it to release anytime soon, or even on whatever date they first target. Just like I don't expect Alan Wake or Gears of War2 to hit this year. Anticipating games has made me jaded to this part of the industry, as delays and street dates annoy me.

Imo people that say i have both but my ps3 is gathering dust etc etc are full of bs...

If u got the 360 when it came out have all the multis on it(rainbow six,cod4..) and get a ps3 to just play rachet/heavenly sword i guess thats normal.

But if ur primary console is the ps3 and u get cod4 ut3
and rachet/uncharted with warhawk etc and u go get the 360 to finish bioshock it's the same situation..Just the 360 came first and some have now their most games on it...Early adopters always suffer

That said, I still wound up buying a PS3 (60gb, used, for about $350) because each system has its strong points: My partner and I use the PS3 for our DVD/BluRay viewing, the 360 for watching fansubs and DL content (handles that content more readily than the PS3 lately), I also LOVE my 360 for Rock Band (and PS3 users seem to get the shaft with that title), and I even have a Wii for my Zelda/Metroid/Etc fix.

All in all I think people should own all three consoles IF POSSIBLE. My PS3 and 360 don't snarl and hiss at each other in the entertainment unit, neither one prevents the other from working... I don't understand why people MUST pick sides... *shrug*

Mind you... I'd never pay full PRICE for a Sony product, but that's because they hyper-inflate their prices on just about EVERYTHING they make, PS3 being no exception here. Even my partner (who isn't a gamer) thinks the PS3 has it's merits despite the very 'ouch' pricetag associated with it... ;)

Despite the game's simpler combat mechanics and shorter length, I still had a blast. The cutscenes were always far more impressive than anything in GoW and so far from what I've seen in GoW2 (I'm only about halfway through it).

Personally, I think the GoW storyline is so f'ed up, it's hard to watch a cutscene without chuckling or shaking my head in shame.

hopefully though they'll have less of those infuriating "pull the crank while the spikes close in and you're attacked by infinitely respawning enemies" sections. i love gow2 but i still haven't finished it a year on because i can't stand those sections and i just die over and over again.

Even then, atleast it still plays Halo 3 & Gears. Oh and Bioshock is a pretty good exclusive, and I still can't wait to check out Mass Effect...

Thank God mine hasn't RROD'ed yet. To be honest though, I play my PS3 more often, just because little signs here and there hint that my 360 is just about near the end of its lifespan.
