Why aren't they just avoiding all the issues of memory and backwards compatability by making some bug fixes and modifying it so that all the games are on a single Blu Ray disc. It totally removes all the issues at once, and saves the buyer time and space.

Also, I just bought MGS Twin Snakes a few months ago, guess I'm buying it for the other 2 games plus the ability to play it with a PlayStation controller like it was originally meant to, although I heard some features of MGS2 were added to 1 in Twin Snakes, if that's removed, it's a bit of a let down.

Codexx

Integral had all the cut-scenes in English and had English subtitles in the options, so it's not as if the game would have needed any re-working to include in the set...

@xMaverick:
I would be much happier if they just included MGS:Integral instead of hte original MGS.
This is a major disappointment to me as it would have been the first time in an American market anyone would be able to play the extra features (such as an FPS mode, extra difficulties, built-in VR-missions, etc...).
Konami included the "director's cut" versions of MGS2 and 3 in the collection, and Japan recieved a much more extra-laden collection including MGS:Integral; why can't other countries have the option?

That would have made it an "essential" collection. =(

TTS is also horribly, horribly, broken and easy. Due to the addition of the first-person aiming mechanic and tranq gun, but the enemy paths and alert cones are still single-level. So you can literally stand at a high point and tranq everyone in the room, and just go on your merry way.

Honestly, MGS:Twin Snakes by Silicon Knights is much more playable than the original PS1 version. The graphics are very similar to those of MGS2 and since it's a Gamecube game, you can get it for your Wii.

Personally, I can barely stand to look at even "good looking" PS1 games, as the lack of texture filtering and problems with polygon swimming are pretty atrocious in any game. However, if you've never played the original, it's kind of amusing to see what "cutting edge" graphics and gameplay looked like circa 1995.

Brendar

Unfortunate that Nintendo is clearly being dicktards again. Twin Snakes is a ridiculously superior version of MGS1, probably looking better than MGS2. MGS1 graphics wise is kind of out of place among the other 3, particularly given that they are actually shipping it on PS1 CDs? Did they have enough of a stash that they decided to save them for a rerelease, or do they actually have a factory still equipped to make those silly black CDs?

Those black CDs are ANCIENT. The PC version of FF7 is over a gigabyte because the technology used on those CDs was so inefficient. I'm honestly surprised they remember how to make them at all, much less have the ability to.

Bobby McPresscott

This set is actually $30-ish dollars for 5 games, not 3.
