@Gypsie: The way I see it, it's worth it at around 80 bucks if you can find some time to make it fun for yourself, like if a friend had one, or if you were making Master Chief or Elite armour for cosplay of Halloween.

But absolutely, the thing is just too pricey for most people. But then again, people are buying the crazy things.

And for whoever mentioned it: I LURVE the Needler, nothing more entertaining than killing people it while playing as an Elite. THEY HATE THAT.

I want, so bad them to make the needler, especially if the needles 'descended' into it as you fired.

On the note about gun sounds, the best toy gun I ever had, and I felt guilty about how I aquired it so it's gone now, but it was a rotating gatling gun, like in Predator, but only about a foot long. SO AWESOME, I wish I still had it.

The funny thing is, the rereleased it, but now, it still spins but it has alternating sounds everytime you hold the trigger down; which, if you watch the video, you know I hate. Figures.

@Gypsie: =\ I got mine for $20 bucks, it was in a box that was royally thrashed and beat to hell.

It works fine, but I was one of those people that said, this is cool, I want it, but $140 bucks is WAY too much for it, limited or not.

I think it really is up to whether or not you personally feel its worth your money and time to get. You can definately get it cheaper than that (140) if you look around, and I know a double pack is supposedly going on sale at Wal-mart soon that will have a bit less flair, but much cheaper.

It looks and feels awesome though, especially if like me you want to mount it next to your legendary helmet.

Personally the wearable helmet at 90.00 makes more sense since you can't point that out a window at someone and get shot by a cop.

looks awesome tho...my local Forbidden Planet has one, but i just cant justify £50 (thats $100) on a toy gun...well...unless i eat bread and water water for 3 week. In ur opinion - worth the sacrifice?

@Datalock: No, the ones being sold at Hot Topic are the Jasman Lasertag set. I own the Jasman guns and have been to Hot Topic to compare, they are the exact same ones.

Master Replicas just unveiled a 1:1 Energy Sword at Toyfare last week, that should have been more newsworthy that this.

But what this article SHOULD have been about is the fact that the Bungie/MS liscensed Master Chief armor made by Rubies was put up for pre-order last week as well. I tried to enter a link here, but the coding won't allow me. It's already up for preorder at several online costume stores and shipping July 31.

Certainly there were more newsworthy items than a months-old lasertag set.

Honestly I think they wanted to make sure that these were exact replicas, as much as possible. They sadly don't fit human hands well, just like the real deal wouldn't.

Like I mentioned on my video, I wouldn't have gotten one unless I had been offered such a deal, and the box WAS torn to crap also. People LOVE playing with them, but few can afford them. It's sad, but true.

But man does if feel fun as hell to mess around with it, for all it's issues.

Now if only someone in Las Vegas had one that I knew. I know somebody bought the other ones because there was a stack of six at Fry's.

We had a pretty awesome laser tag place called Laser Quest until it closed a few years ago. Now, they are working on a bunch of fancy new apartments and shops in that area. An entertainment complex called The Stadium had laser tag too, but it wasn't as fun as Laser Quest. Now, The Stadium is gone too, but they turned the building into a non-denominational church called Quest Community Church. We didn't have a laser tag place for a while, but now I've heard that Champs, a skating rink & entertainment place, has laser tag. The lasers reign again!!

You can go buy them right now, in your local mall at Hot Topic.

Their functionality is excellent, but the color schemes is a little off, and doesn't match the colors in the game or their photos.

I got to play with these at CES. They're pretty well put together although the "vents" that open when the rifle "overheats" feel kinda cheap. I'm interested in seeing how they integrate the Energy Sword (they were showing it at their booth but they didn't have any there) with laser tag.

I just got my pistol in the mail the other day, but have had the rifle for weeks now. They look great, but in person are made like shit. The little wings on the plasma rifle can break SOO easily, so you have to be really careful.

Don't think I would personally buy them. However they look really good. Seems like the makers went to a lot of trouble to do their best. Parts popping open when they overheat = awesome. Shield recharging is kinda cool as well, wonder how long it takes. Also wonder if 6 rapid shots from the rifle = dead. Or once hit there is a brief second of immunity.

Oh and just cause the guy works at thinkgeek doesn't mean he has to look like such a geek lol.

I saw some of these lying around at Fry's last night, in horribly mangled boxes, leading me to believe they were actually REALLY old merch that somehow languished on the shelves.

I was shocked to see the insane prices on what amounts to a nerf gun with some lights and sounds... they do look pretty and shiny, but I'm nowhere NEAR the level of Halo fanboy required to justify such a purchase.

Hell, they still have dozens of the "Halo 3 Limited-Whatever-it-comes-with-a-helmet" edition gathering dust at 79.99...

HA LOL, man this would be fun to make a deathmatch area out in the yard when i was a kid.

the just need to make a toy laser sniper, mauler, and spiker and you can place em like on High Ground.

Backyard battles were great.

of coarse there would be rules as to what could be dual wielded and what could'nt :P

Not bad, but the guns aren't the reason no one I know never played, it was the clothing that registers the hit. It needs to be bigger and with multiple damage amount areas IE body core, arms, head.
