What the HELL are you talking about????? I caved and bought one of the last 60GB PS3s back in October 2007 for $499 with a rumbleless controller and NO game. Youre getting a DS3 and technically MGS4 for free and you still are whining the bundle should be $450? It should be $550-560 instead!

@dunetiger : apples are red: It only has software BC, not hardware like the 60 gig model. Although I've heard the software BC is very good anyway. Besides, most of us own a PS2 anyway, and you can't really sell them for THAT much, so why not just keep your PS2 if you want hardware BC that badly?

as another commenter said in a more recent post, check the Playstation Blog: everything has been confirmed, the bundle supposedly going for a cool $499

Update: "Database Error" hmm, too much traffic perhaps? Regardless, it'll be there once it loads back up again.

What I'm more interested in however is that, as mentioned in the blog, players who preorder MGS4 will get "guaranteed" access to a multiplayer beta in late April for MGS Online. No other details besides that, though hopefully this would mean preordering at any store you choose (ie, not just through GameStop).

I don't think the bundle will cost any more than 500. It's approximately as valuable as what they're selling currently in the bundle, only slightly more valuable. It's somewhat possible the bundle will sell for less than 500, but I doubt it. I'm putting my money on the bet that it costs 500.

@mva5580: I highly doubt it'lll be 600 dollars, and it will certainly not be more than that.

It's currently 500 for an 80 GB unit with a 60 dollar retail game and a 50 dollar retail controller. If you change out that one 60 dollar game for another and then exchange the 50 dollar controller for its placement, which will at most cost 60 dollars when it's available, will not add 100 dollars to the price tag. I think it'll be the same price, actually. You'll be able to get an 80 GB with MGS 4 and a DS 3 for 500, and I think they'll repackage the 40 with a DS 3, and lower its price to 350 to match the 360's 20GB model price point.

It would be a devastating blow to the competition if Sony launched this bundle for less than $499 but I doubt that from reading their recent comments regarding a possible price cut. You see, because the more expensive model sold just as well if not better as the cheaper model, Sony realised that people aren't necessarily concerned with price as long as they get a great bundle that is value for money. So it would seemingly make sense that they launch this bundle for the same price at $499, and considering the title in the bundle, it should sell incredibly well.

But I'd like them to do well and attain a faster rate of consumers, so hopefully it'll cost less than that prediction.

Is that PS3 the "good" one or is it the emulated one? If I ever buy a PS3 I want to buy the right one. The new ones I heard are emulated so it's not even true HD Blu-Ray goodness. Any help would be appreciated.

While this is great (especially since I have not picked up a PS3 yet and besides price, my big hold out is wanting a Dual Shock right off the bat and backwards compatability), I am sad that you wont be able to turn around and play you copies of the previous MGS games on the system. Hey everyone, I just got the new MGS PS3 and MGS 4, isn't that great! What's that you ask? Well no, the new MGS collection I bought back in spring doesn't work in it. = /

Guess I will still be waiting. Hopefully Sony can get to work on that new peripheral for the PS3 the Playstation Steam Iron to work out all the kinks and wrinkles.

I have a feeling this might be part of Sony's deal with Konami to keep it exclusive.

Afterall, Konami is going to be getting money for every copy sold in a bundle, and there are going to be people buying the bundle for the PS3 alone, with the game as a bonus.

If anything, its another nail in the "multi" coffin.

Haha, the bundle's actually a smart idea. As it is now, MGS4 would be the only reason I buy a PS3 (and I'm sure the same is true for a lot of people out there), but I'm still going to wait quite a while before I buy another console on account of the fact that I'm leaving college soon and am still doubting the true exclusivity of the game.

Plus, 2007 was hella exensive for me. Wii, 360, DS Lite, Game Boy Micro, and about 40 games between the four of them have me just about spent. I'd be lucky if I buy so much as ten games this entire year, much less another new console that I'm still not sure of.

Wait a second, I've never heard of an official bundle featuring a game that wasn't published by the hardware publisher. Now, Costco or Sam's Club bundles features titles published by 3rd parties all the time. But this would be a first as far as I could tell. Seems unlikely.

I knew it! I predicted that there'd be an 80gig MGS 4 DualShock 3 bundle, and according to this, it'll happen. If it doesn't happen, it's idiotic. It makes all the sense in the world. They'll sell a million of those bundles, at least, if the price is right.
