I am hoping the actual game is much longer, as the first one was great but it only gave like a solid 3 days of playing...

Also I loved the online games but I felt it became very 1 dimensional...get the shotgun or sniper rifle, and get in close for a kill...

Don't get me wrong I am not flaming it I loved it but I always liked the team based movement in 1 one player game opposed to the run and gun when playing on live...

Temporary box art, huh? I hope so, because the regular edition cover for GoW 2 looks a lot like the special edition cover for the first game. Not that it matters to me what the box art looks like, but the regular folk might take a quick glance at it and think that there's a new shipment of limited edition copies of GoW 1 without realizing that its actually a completely new game.

I love how the Limited Edition box art is already done before the game. Talk about putting the cart before the horse. Why don't you try and fix some of the many glaring design flaws in your title instead? pretty graphics will only get you so far, so unless GoW2 is debuting the Unreal 4 Engine, you have a lot of real work to do, not just trying to sell you "Limited Editions"

What the fuck does that mean anyway? Its a game, not a handmade watch, or a specially built car. What makes this limited? You can print as many damn copies of the game and any artwork you want, there is no limit to this edition. They need to start calling these things "special editions" and pretend like they have SOME respect for syntax.

MS is definitely putting their eggs into the GeoW basket, but I'm curious as to what Epic is going to do with 3. We know MS only has exclusivity until 2, and we know Epic is kicking themselves for giving it to MS considering the hordes and hordes of cash they would've gotten as a multiplatform.

That's probably the reason we're hearing rumors of MS trying to buy Epic.

I'll just wait for it on PC.

Gears of war had a great ad campaign, I loved it. Also, whats with all the bitching, yes it was short, the story did not explain everything but guess what? Thats fine and the story was great, Halo's story was great until Halo2 came out, people actually want to know what the "aliens" think, believe in and eat for breakfast? Or their "policy"... I hope the story sticks to what it is, a great B-movie.

I got the special/limited edition of the original... but I don't know that I'd bother with the second unless there's something really out there that they're including with it. The art book was kinda nice, the extras on the second disc were a waste of time and the tin case isn't worth the ten bucks and the extra shelf space it takes up.

Ah well, I'm still all over this game.

Ever since I got my first Special edition (Bioshock, if you wanted to know) I developed a liking for special editions.

Of course, what's included and pricing does apply. But £5-£10 more, even just for a movie and a nice case, is good.

Gears of War was a great game. Why so many haters?

Short? yes, but sweet. no?

4 on 4 was fine. why does it always have to be 16 on
16? doesnt the heroic map pack for halo suck because of that very notion?

Story was vague, but thats what made it so unpretencious. Nobody ever complained that the story for games like Contra was weak.

My money is on Gears 2 being the biggest release of the year.

Holy SHIT. That's really all I can say: Holy SHIT. I had heard the rumors about it coming out in November but I honestly blew them off as wishful thinking- not even a leaked screen shot- not even an admitted 'we're making it' from Epic...

I'm freaking floored. I will be putting money down on any Edition they want to put out- Gears was one of the best Xbox experiences I've ever had- not even a milisecond of thought would go through my mind about putting this at the top of my 'MUST HAVE' list.

@baked ham: I think we agreed on this one before, Ham. I feel the same. I liked Gears of War just fine. It was a great way to establish a franchise. It created a rich world with unlimited sequel opportunity. I thought it had it's share of weaknesses, and the skies the limit on what they could a ccomplish with a sequel.

I hope this game is better than the first. The first had some good parts. Definitely good. But I want Gears 2 to knock my socks off, and it's gonna be tough to do! Gears has some of my favorite online multiplayer ever, though, so I don't see how more of that could possibly let me down unless they really half-ass the maps (they won't) or completely change the formula (I suppose they might).

I'm a sucker for limited editions, but not sure if I'll get this one. I got the LE of the first Gears but, whilst the art book was nice, I've never watched the bonus disc, and on top of that the little cardboard sleeve holding the disc was hardly top of the line...

@dhlt25: The Bioshock LE was a nice example of making a Limited Edition worthwhile. Unfortunately my Big Daddy came broken, like a lot of folks', but it was a nice idea.

Tell you what though, I remember a guy picking up his ff12 reserve about 2 months ago though. it was odd....
