<P>I probably should've worded it better. What I meant was if you don't Halo or shooters in general, Forge isn't something that will make you want to invest in the game. LBP is a new IP that's aimed at those particular gamers who like design and create things. Forge was made to include those type of gamers while LBP is made directly for them.</P>
<P>This is all off the point, anyway, but XNA is superior to LBP in the sense you can create entire games but of course you need actual development skills and actual money as opposed to just messing around with levels in LittleBigPLanet for fun.</P> <p>Buttah</p>]]></description>

		    <description><![CDATA[<P>Fable 2 sounds cool. I want to know more about this pregnancy thing. Can you go adventuring when you're pregnant? What about in the third trimester? What happens during birth? Do you have to be married to raise the kid? What if you aren't married, or your spouse is killed like in the presentation? Will you have to raise the kid yourself? What if you let the kid die? Dammit. . . so many questions, so few answers.</P>
<P>So...</P>
<P>Anybody know if Sony's going to have a keynote like this where they show stuff off and have famous developers on stage to show off the exclusives, like perhaps the Naughty Dog guys there to show off whatever they're working on (probably too early for that), or the Insomniac guys to show off Resistance 2, or HIDEO to show off MGS 4 (that'd be sweet), or what's it... Sucker Punch's game... Infamous!? I want to see things ! Sony'd really be dropping the ball if they don't have any cool things to show off at a big event like Microsoft has just done.</P> <p>baked ham</p>]]></description>

		    <description><![CDATA[<P>@<A href="http://kotaku.com/358723/liveblogging-microsofts-gdc-presser?cpage=3#c4314455">manjikengo</A>: Fable had a lot of things great, like graphics and art and game mechanics etc. The story, quests, balance (can't die) content and everything else needed to make a good game was missing. I completed everything the game had in basically 8 hours, and never died, not even if I tried. The whole game felt more like a demo or showpiece. Also the Story, was just sooo bad.</P>
<P>But Fable 2 does look a lot better, I don't doubt that it will be better. I will just close my ears until it is out, and hopefully be excited for it when reviews drop in :)</P>

		    <description><![CDATA[<p>I'm so hyped for Gears 2 MP</p>
<p>In my book gears had THE best multiplayer I've EVER played (Played one hell of a lot of different games online trust me), now I don't mean the glitches that bugged me, I'm not talking about the lag that was pretty frequent (me having a good connection but its a long way between Sweden and the US) I'm talking about the unmatched sensation of deepth, It felt so immensly solid and real unlike jumpy jumpy plastic Halo 3 (which is great but not anywhere near as great) or stiff, unflexible and grey CoD4 (which is way better than Halo 3 but not even close). Gears, sniper, headshot no scope during a crucial clan game on the GameBattles ladder, the feeling of it really sticks on ya. I have more memories and more connection to Gears MP than to all other games combined its like it was made for me, the perfect MP game in my book and now Gears 2 will hit, hopefully its just an improved, glitch-less and lag-less experience, if it is then meet me and the clan I'm in at the top of the clan rankings, cause god do I love me some Gears!</p> <p><a href="http://takeoninja.freehostia.com">TakeoNinja</a></p>]]></description>

We forget that the vast majority of gamers are really lazy when it comes to stuff like this. Forge and Saved films for example, were the most forward-looking pieces in the Halo 3 package. All the people that were calling it Halo 2.5 were the ones NOT using Forge and Saved Films and Custom games etc. because they just wanted to play Slayer over and over.</P>
<P>Why are these same lazy-ass non-creative people going to spend hours building LBP levels? I just don't get how people think LBP is going to be this huge thing in user-created content. 95% of the people who buy LBP may dabble lightly or not use creation tools at all, judging from how people play/use other games..</P> <p>lionkitten</p>]]></description>

If you were an Xbox-er since the beginning, you didn't even likely play MGS3 or give a crap about the sequel. The fanboys just want to relive the hysterics of Sony peeps like when DMC4 went multi-plat and the Sony kidz had a conniption fit.</P>
<P>MGS4 is a niche game, but a niche game that sold 3.6 million. However that's not THAT huge when you consider how many consoles the PS2 has sold....MGS4 may be mind-blowing but it's not a system seller to more than a hundred thousand consoles or so. 		    <description><![CDATA[<P>Gear's 2 was expected if not this week soon. It only makes sense that they were working on it since gears 1 launched. I enjoyed the first. I think the story was average but not great.</P>
<P>I enjoyed the pop and stop gameplay change and felt like I had to play quite a bit different from previous shooters where I could run around and shoot anyone without having to worry about death. The coop gameplay through live though was one of the best experiences i have had in a game in a long time. I hope they replicate that.</P>
<P>What i came away excited for in this announcment was the XNA games. Since XNA was launched I have been looking forward to playing some of the homebrew games but when they announced the service would cost money and you would only be able to play games you made yourself I felt they dropped the ball. This could potentially be a system seller for a lot of programers and casual gamers. What I already don't like is the "limited time" and "demo" nature that these first games are coming in. They may miss the boat again if they rely on this mechanic and price the games similar to what we have seen. 30 days is hardly enough time for a community word of mouth to spread. This could give the marketplace a much needed rejouvination that it needs to compete with the great original titles on the psn.</P>
<P>Overall a good press conference but still not enough to incite the confidence e3 2006 game us for the platform.</P> <p>pROvIs</p>]]></description>

<P>Not very likely since GoW2 is in Novemeber and there's been no mention of DR2. So that's basically a 1v1 battle there. Not saying it wasn't a good point because it was, but pretty far fetched. This year looks to be a lot of match-ups. I can see MGS4 vs NG2, I can see GoW2 vs Resitance or KZ2. I see MS's XNA content against LBP. Until tomorrow or E3 when we know more there's a lot of stuff up in the air so all we can do is make assumptions as of right now.</P> <p><a href="http://">Sparx</a></p>]]></description>

But really, independent XNA development is bound to result in more casual games... and Nintendo's proven that casual games can compete with hardcore games in the market. Kudos to MS for realizing that and taking the appropriate steps towards that.</P>

		    <description><![CDATA[<P>An XNA blade that basically plays free or almost free equivalents of flash games would be huge, I'd say. Gets people developing and gets ideas flowing - plus good free games means they can't overcharge for crappy XBLA games by comparison.</P>
<P>Also, though I am not a fan in the least, Gears 2 for this fall is a huge announcement in terms of bolstering the 360 lineup for '08.</P>
<P>Wish I could see the footage for Fable/Ninja/Too Human etc. Hopefully this'll be up somewhere soon.</P>

I'm saying Microsoft didn't create it because they thought it was a good idea for tech reasons; they created it for competitive reasons. Developers should not let themselves be cowed into following all of Microsoft's whims. That will only ensure that they will never be able to keep up with Microsoft. If you want to live, ignore .Net and Silverlight and all that developer stuff Microsoft keeps churning out. <p>The game in question was Monster Madness. A very flawed title, yes, but no more so than Sony's own Lair, according to review scores anyway. A PS3 port of the game is currently in the making, but the developers had to promise a bunch of extra features and new content before Sony would even approve the port to start development. Never mind that the complaints cited in reviews had nothing to do with a lack of content or features.</p>

GOW was the most linear, most repeatable gameplay FPS I ever played, was so over hyped and so darn big machoists characters that it was just nothing more then an uninteresting pile of crap. And seems they aint hoping to fix it, just talk about graphics, but then again what FPS is not just about graphics nowdays... <p>But as a cynic, I would say Microsoft goes to great lengths in the short-term because it suits their immediate interests (eliminate competition through aggressively attacking competitor weaknesses), but in the long term things aren't that rosy. <p>In my opinion it's not different. I enjoy Earth Defense Force and Gears of War for the same reason. They both have cheesy sci-fi stories, crazy badguys, and crazier weapons. Sure, EDF might be more over the top, but it doesn't matter, because I have fun just sitting down and playing.</p>
<p>I get more satisfaction chainsawing a Theron Guard than I do fireballing a cheep cheep. It's just the experience that's fun. Some games have shit gameplay and rely on story to keep people entertained (enter Oblivion, Final Fantasy, etc.) I have to be in the right mood to play those.</p>
<p>All in all:</p>
<p><b>There are two types of games:</b></p>
<p>1. Those who rely on story/emotional connection to entertain</p>
<p>and</p>
<p>2. Those who rely on gameplay/presentation to entertain</p>

		    <description><![CDATA[<p>@<a href="#c4309305">NMC ONE WAY</a>: A lot of the "tactical" shooters lack the jump button, like R6:Vegas.  Does take some getting used to, but I don't think many folks really run around shooting and jumping at the same  time.  (Ja! Mein leapen!)</p>

Pacman is so simplistic where as Gears creates an entire rendered world for you, and then a story is required. Funny, you were just mad at me in the other thread, but here you're absolutely right.  I'd sell a kidney to get Dead Rising 2.  I could care less about this game.</p>

Well, I see where you're coming from, but the problem to me was just that I found Fenix, Cole, and everyone else totally unlikeable.  Not only were they all as ugly as sin, but I've never felt much attachment to "guy with gun", "black guy with gun", and "guy with gun's buddy".</p>
<p>As someone who writes for a living, characters need more depth and exploration than that to be interesting in my book...but I guess the shooter genre is probably just the wrong place to go looking for m
