So Capcom pays tribute to George with Resident Evil and then gets him to direct a commercial for it, then Capcom gets sued for Dead Rising being too similar to Dawn of the Dead? Something's not right here.

Its funny in this clip, Romero himself says he loves it how these games take on the zombie genre that he himself is impressed.

@TheCleaningGuy: is Maximum Risky!: You aren't missing much. As a big fan of the games I find the film versions to be appallingly terrible. Horror movie fans that I know argue that, at least for the first film, that it was a decent, above-average horror flick. It had little to do with the storyline of the games short of keeping the Umbrella Corporation as the evil corporation that developed the T-Virus.

My hope is that the CG animated film coming out soon from Sony will be the true cinematic successor to the games. Sadly, there will never be a live action version of the games that will ever fulfill this fanboy's dreams...

I didn't like it that much though, I didn't think he captured the true intelligence and depth of the characters very well. (Sarcasm)
Jill wasn't the master of unlocking I hoped her to be.

Haven't seen the RE movie though, so I can't really compare the two.

Anybody ever read Romero's script for the RE movie? It had a few kinks, but I still found it more enjoyable to read than the actual movie was to watch. The scene with the giant serpent was particularly cool...

Romero doesn't even own the rights to his films anymore (So much for protecting people's ideas...), and nobody's really suing. New Line just stuttered together a bunch of negative sounding words, and Capcom replied by saying "screw you, I'll see you in court/hell."

R.I.P. Brad Renfro

The Doc was slightly interesting but the commercial was terrible. Luckily the game made up for any of its' marketing shortcomings as RE2 is still my favorite entry to the series storywise.

I'd kill (pun not intended) for a HD remake for PS3 or 360, hot damn!

I have to say that i think after Land of the Dead and espeicially Diary, Romero's 'Master' title is under a bit of scrutiny.
Personally, i'm almost glad he never got to make Resident Evil. It would only end up being another film to take glory away from his previous successes (and genuinely good films).

But then maybe i'm being too harsh.

Cool find! When George A. Romero came to my college years ago, I was lucky enough to be able to ask him about the RE2 spots and his original plans for the RE movie before the project was taken out of his hands. I still find the "Actor X" stuff interesting, Brad Renfro's agent's concerns are probably the reason the ads never saw the light of day outside of Japan. Too bad.
