Harvest Moon, no thanks. Lasyt time I played a simulation game I spent almost every day playing it for about seven months. That game was Animal Crossing: Wild World for the DS.

I've had my TG-16 since it was new. Got it for Christmas back in the day. But the CD add on was just a dream because of price. I want all the VC TG-CD games I can get now.

This is the first Harvest Moon game that kicked off my obsession. I must have rented it at least 10 times, but never purchased it. And then the N64 came and out went SNES rentals. Oh well! Now I can play to my heart's content.

@antialias02: I want the U.S. release of Final Fantasy III. Because I want to play it again, and my SNES is 2400 miles away goddammit! And I don't feel like playing it on the Game Boy Advance or DS or whatever it was recently remade for.

Hey, side question, that game called "Final Fantasty II" for the PSP, is that the real Final Fantasy II, or the United States SNES Final Fantasy II?

The best Harvest Moon ever made, then again I only played 2 (Harvet Moon 64) out of the 100 sequels for the game. The latter versions seemed too uninspiring to me.

As shown in my avatar, cow humping should have been a feature in all the series, funny stuff.

@baked ham: Not playing any harvest moon likely explains why you never understood the appeal. HM and MMOs are really built the way that gamers have been trained to value: short-term goals leading to tangible rewards. They've just condensed it to a ridiculous level.

HM is different, however, in that it actually has a vague semblance of a story, and has some interesting NPC social stuff going on. It's still mostly planting crops to get money to plant more crops to get money to get better tools to plant even more crops.

It sounds ridiculous, but it's great fun once you give it a shot.

@baked ham: You can pick up a used GBA one on the cheap or try this one as well.

It's something akin to Katamari. You can't really explain how it's fun (because a fun Farming Sim defies explanation), but it doesn't change the fact that it actually IS fun.

Sure, in game years I usually restart or whatnot after 5 years or so, but I still pick up every new iteration. The original was great, but the newer ones have so much more to keep you entertained.

Try one. Trust me. Good times had by all.

@Dreamwriter: Uh, yeah, I don't think you could say that anything that was exclusive to Turbo CD or Sega CD was "popular". Maybe amongst owners of those systems, but those systems are both obscure. Not too many genesis owners had the CD addon, and even fewer TG owners had the CD addon. I mean, Sonic CD is in my opinion the best Sonic game ever made, but it's something of a cult classic, too. How many could've possibly played it, considering the unpopularity of the CD add-on itself?

I don't get it, Lords of Thunder wasn't a "cult classic". It was a damn popular game on both Turbografx-16 and Genesis. Maybe Nintendo considers it a cult classic because it wasn't on any Nintendo systems? :)

I still remember the day I bought the SNES Harvest Moon. Still a classic and definitely recommended. It's not nearly as hardcore as the later games and tons more accessible.

Lords is truly one of the best 2D shooters of all time - especially the music. The intro and bosses are very impressive too. Too bad they took the shopkeeper's voice out of the US version, but it's no big deal.

Wow, FINALLY a good week. Lords of Thunder? Hell yes, one of the best shooters and prime reason to own a TurboDuo, along with Gates. Remember well people, the SNES Harvest Moon is unforgiving and missing a lot of stuff you've gotten used to. Getting married is also a bitch and a half.

I'll have to wait for HM64, the SNES version was great, but it's a little too hard to go back in time that far.
