This isn't "incredible" by any means. I thought this would possibly be a mural of an original scene done in the game's style... not just another copy of some sprites plastered on a wall. An example of an INCREDIBLE and AMAZING painting is that ROTJ poster. I'm sure if you showed this to Hiroji Kiyotake (designer on Super Metroid) and told him "isn't this amazing and incredible?" he'd think the world had gone retarded... and despite the ease of this job, it's still a little sloppy around the edges.

So, in conclusion... I hate it and I'm not wrong for saying it despite what DicksonPoon thinks.

The picture, regardless of being a blown-up version of a sprite, is still the shiznit and if it were edible I'm sure it would be delicious. If would-be art critics need to analyze a painting on a guy's wall like the typical college student in Beginning Painting would do to an assignment, then they're deserving of a critique themselves.

And by the way, the point of art, or painting in particular, is not to express yourself in ways that can't be expressed otherwise; the point of art is to express yourself, and that's it. Or to get paid. Or both.

It's projects like this that I find to be particularly useless, much like people that are determined (and sometimes succeed) in trying to put down other people's efforts for no other reason than to feel superior to them. Why exactly would you spend a great deal of time trying to diss someone else's work? Next time get constructive with it, or else don't try to pass it off as anything more than what it is... a post telling everyone on the Internet that you're the shit.

I value it more because it was only put there through my efforts; I doubt I would appreciate it as much spending 30 second taping up a printout.

A task like this is meticulous in the process of idea, method and above all execution (oh, a gamer said EXECUTION; I just had to get that in, sorry). And I know a few things about meticulous, mostly pointless work (and I wasn't just referring to my job, sorry again).

Kudos Hypnotoad, I can honestly say that I wish that any of my own project could be as well Commissioned and as close to the reference material as your 8-bit majesty.

@MrBionic: The other two special edition posters are just to the left of the ROTJ one :D

@baked ham: It was a lot of creating templates in photoshop, printing out onto cardstock, and cutting out areas to paint with an exacto-knife. You can see one of the templates vaguely at the bottom center under the whiteboard.

@leadster618: Yep, I could have saved a LOT of time with a color print from Kinkos or whatever. But doing it yourself and making it real, not a printout, is kind of the point (for me anyway).

@excaleranth: Good spot. I picked up that model years ago (I think it's called a Drej?).
