I hope it'll be like the demo. An area of the city that you are free to drive around but can't activate challenges. Or some more areas like the arifield, quarry and stock track.

Actually come to think of it, maybe some of the unfinished parts of the city (under construction) will get fixed up. Add motorbikes (which would totally work with the Burnout mechanic!). Also that outward-pointing boat in the shipyard looks loike it could lead somewhere in the future...

MrLister

I'm an old burnout fan, and this game turned out to be somewhat of a disappointment to me (and I bought it using part of a gift card :P )

1) Showtime is no substitute for crash mode.
2) WTF happened to multiplayer road rage, it seems this game would have been perfect for that.

lordargent

I think this is a great move from Criterion/EA.

PGR3, and I think Forza 2, although I could be mistaken on that, had a pretty bad problem when people who didn't download the free DLC cars could not play with the people who did. This caused online racing to be completely foobared, because the player-base was basically fractured in half (the haves and the have-nots). It made it really difficult to get any raced on.

What Criterion/EA have done completely eliminates the problem in a very user-friendly way. Not to mention that EA probably loves it, because they get a marketing benefit from it ("see that car that other dude is driving that you don't have...only 100 points...").

Pixelantes Anonymous

It sounds to me like they want to put a positive spin on making you pay for content already on the disk, or they want to advertise the stuff you could be having if you shelled out extra money. Like Crackdown's strategy of giving you a free cheat mode along with shoving in your face that you can't do this challenge unless you buy their other not-so-free DLC.

Tiber

I agree. I think cop chases would add a tremendous amount of fun to the game. I'm the kind of dork that likes to set time records so I'm always speeding around the city as fast as possible (hold the boost down and never look back), but it'd be cool if every once in a while a cop starts giving chase and instead of trying to take him down, your goal is to lose 'im.

dunetiger reads kotaku, seems pleased

Now that was freaking annoying and stupid, the ones that charged for it atleast had a scam going, the ones that made it for free...

Did it just so MS or themselves could advertise the awsomness of DLC, when it was not true DLC. Any game that does that should be boycotted even if it is free, because it is just so damn stupid.

Irenicus-the one and only

i hope you only get 1 cars to choose from in the begining and you have to pay like ten dollars for each new car download because I am an idiot who thinks paying for dlc for a game i already bought is a good idea, and I like making sure the trend continues because I am a tard. I especially like it when I download something and the download is only a few kilobytes meaning the information was already sitting on my disc. that is especially cool. so is EA and Criterion.

kingrottenboy

This is precisely what I wanted to see with the PGR and Forza series. You can't really do it with tracks so much, but when it comes to new cars, let people download the models for free, they're just not available in their own garages and a host can't lock in said car as the only car choice if someone in the room doesn't have it "fully" unlocked. It seemed like such an obvious way of doing things...let people play online against the new bad-ass DLC car, but they can't drive it themselves until they pay up.

I dunno why it took so long for someone to actually do it, but thank god someone finally did.

Swervo

I just want them to expand Paradise's map size on the western side (give us a crazy gorge overpass into a mountain town!), I don't care if they charge me for more events as long as there are a decent number per DLC pack. Heck, 10 new events, 2 road rage, 2 races, 2 stunt runs, 2 marked mans and 2 others (perhaps an area-specific/new type) would be plenty for 15 bucks along with the map expansion, and people could still run around in there but just wouldn't be able to do all the races and road rages, etc.

Love this game either way, I think it looks awesome on my 360 so if the PS3 is slightly better than I'm legitimately jealous for the first time ;)

DaiMacculate
