Taste is subjective guys. I'm sure just as much thought goes into these games as the others, and their fans will all rally and say theirs is the best. I respect a lot of games that I have zero interest in playing, as I realize they aren't targeted at me. So I think Devs that work on these games know what their fans like and try to make that their goal, not PWNing the other guys. I'm sure they all have bias and love their product the best. There is probably healthy competition too.
They are all very successful franchises. I like GOW myself, but I respect the other two for their merits, even if i'm not as interested in playing them as much.

Then again, I doubt FFXIII is hitting until then either and that's a much bigger game that has been in development longer.

Personally, I think NG has a great story. Despite being very traditional and simple, it's also executed very well. The FMVs are superbly directed and inserted with great pacing, and the dialogue is powerful and concise, just like a good martial arts movie.

Let DMC and GOW have all the cutscenes and dialogue. NG will hold down the gameplay aspects tighter without unecessary interruptions and distractions.

I'm not saying it'll be out soon, but I'm rather optimistic for christmas '08 or at the latest March of '09. That was never a true statement. They said FFXIII and FFvsXIII were 13% and 1.3% done respectively. It was just a play on the number 13 and its been reported as false dozens of times.

Also, not really a surprise. I would've been extremely surprised if it made it out this year. Next is that "big surprise" when people find out FF13 isn't going to make it out this year. Seriously, at TGS, they said they were 13% of the way done with the game. Nowhere remotely close. Even if the Japanese release makes it out this year, I REALLY doubt an English version will make it out.

Anyone who was expecting the PS3 to overtake the Xbox 360 this year had better postpone their victory parties until we at least have solid dates for Final Fantasy XIII and God of War III. MGS 4 I'm afraid is just not going to help Sony all that much.
