its not the point! Sonic and sega were my childhood and my introduction to gaming, seeing him go through crappy iterations while mario (sonic's forever rival) gets continuous amazing new games. It really makes me regret calling Sonic "the clear game character that will withstand the test of time" when I was little. If Sonic RPG fares well it might bring my blue friend some chance to regain some former glory. Anyone open it near me and I will prolly go often if they put some good ol' sega arcade (Ghost squad w00t!) and a sonic coaster.

I say the need to put it here in Southern Indiana. The only thing we have is a Chuck E Cheese with a couple of newer games like Afterburner Climax, Lets Go Jungle, and Mario Kart Arcade GP 2. Still ain't bad since with coupons and the one token deal I can play any of the for just 10 cents. I have yet to see a Virtua Fighter 5 machine in real life.

I'm from the UAE, Dubai is one of the 7 main emirates in the UAE. I really think it's a stupid project, as many of you know arcades died recently. Emaar have been doing a lot of half-assed projects with a huge amount of hype. Dubai Mall is supposed to be XBOX HUEG and stuff but still. current largest mall in the country has an arcade/simulation place and its an utter failure IMHO.

I used to go to Sega World in Sydney all the time, I LOVED it!! The indoor roller coaster was no small feat, and the VR rides were a blast for their time.
Hell, they even had a 20 or so linked Daytona happening, complete with live commentary!!
The biggest problem with it I found, was that most of the arcade machines, whilst completely free, were usually broken in some way due to constant abuse from patrons.
Otherwise I found it awesome. I suppose it would have had some astronomical costs though.

Dubai seems like the perfect place to build one - here's hoping Sega World returns to Oz one day :)

Sorry Luke, but that's bull. Dubai is the perfect place for Sega to put these into action. You surely know how poorly Segaworld performed in Sydney.

In Dubai there's a lot of money floating round for luxury and entertainment and a lot of tourism. Consoles and games are a lot more expensive over there so they aren't in as many homes, therefore wouldn't there be more purpose to go to an Arcade. Yes it excites the hardcore fans, but they don't pay the bills. Just look at the Wii.

I spoke with a tourist rep from Dubai up on the Gold Coast last time I was there and he gave me the down low on the spending habits in the oil rich nation (his job was getting people from Dubai to Australia). They don't like touristy stuff like seeing Uluru and our country's natural beauty, they like theme parks, glamor and everything just generally over the top (think Vegas).

I think this is a very smart decision on Sega's behalf.
