I was sort of expecting a fix to their atrocious menu system they have in place for their online play. I'd never even thought of the day when something like that turns me off from a game to the point that I'd rather just play with homebrew systems.

The lag ain't too bad, but Jesus...the menus. What the hell were they thinking?

The rematch and costume options are nice, but the lobby system still sucks. And the fact that can't go back to the character select menu is still kind of annoying.

Now, I love me some Soul Calibur, but comparing it to Virtua Fighter 5 is like comparing a burger to a filet mignon.

VF5 is, no questions, the best 3d fighter ever simply because of the online. Not only can you play random people, but you can customize your outfit down the facial piercings. Everybody plays with unique costumes and their own style so you never really fight the game character twice.

Lag is not a big issue. Most of the time, the speed is fine and just like local play. Occasionally there is lag, but luckily the devs have the game sorta freeze for a second to sync up, which is annoying, but it makes sure that no one player has the advantage just due to connection.

Soul Calibur is more button mashers, VF is a thinking mans game.

I've played over 200 games online for VF5 and rarely have lag. Maybe twice? This is my first time playing the VF series and it's awesome. Can't get enough of the gameplay...and new pants.

Glad to hear people don't have too many issues with the lag. Its always going to a problem for fighters, because of their precision (and usually fast) nature, but I can live with a very small delay/lag if its consistent. Thanks for the info, definitely going on the "need to buy" list along with way too many other games right now :)

Honestly, the game runs almost completely smoothly online. Only people that've been playing since the beginning and would actually know the difference between when a move has a slightly off frame speed would they notice the lag.

I guess I'll be playing this a lot more now. Lots and lots of interesting additions.

Every once in a while I do get a player that has a laggy connection, but I'm lucky that most of the players I come across actually check their network connections so lag isn't an issue.

If you notice that there aren't much people playing, don't worry. Most are trying to get acheivements in the offline tournament mode. I think most of us play regularly during the later hours after the families go to bed.

The lag in the game is usually good. You can tell if your match will be a lagfest just from the stage intro. But for the most part, the game plays pretty well online, it just takes some time getting used to a minimal amount of delay in your move execution (we're talking milliseconds here) which I probably haven't gotten a hold of yet judging by my 25% win record online

I heard the lag varies, but I don't have a 360, so it's a bit word of mouth. You can check on VFDC it has all the info you want on VF :)

So how are people who have this doing with Lag issues on XBL? I might pick it up if the online play isn't ridiculously laggy, like every other fighting game I've ever tried to play online. I played it on PS3 once, and destroyed the owner of said PS3 in about 10 straight matches before he threw his Sixaxis down in disgust and sold the game back a few days later. It was kinda fun, but I don't have anybody to play with locally so it would have to be online.
