That said..I can't be the only one who thinks that location is pretty damn sweet looking. That rock the camera is on is just begging for someone to be slammed into it.

Thank God I decided never to watch movies based off of a game or series. There have been far too many let downs with movies based off of games or anything else that wasnt original. Resident evil comes to mind (I didnt see Alice in any of my game copies). Ill have to pass on this one :).

Being an aspiring filmmaker, I know how much work goes into these things, and set pictures really don't do things like this justice.

I still think DB should turn out to be a pretty decent movie. I'm definitely shelling out the eight canadian dollars to see it. I'll reserve my review of the movie for after it's been made, and watched.

It's Dragon BALL, for those who keep questioning.

Yes, that IS different that Dragonball Z for those who don't know otherwise.

They are different, no they are not the same.

DB revolves around Goku, more of a martial arts setting than "OVER 9000!" power levels (which disappear shortly after the Saiyan Saga anyway)

I have faith in this movie though, I'm 22 and I've wanted this since I was a little kid.

It COULD be good. It probably won't be, but I'm hoping that I'll feel ok leaving the theater.

@thereturnoftheufo: Transformers is different case. In all actuality, Transformers is MADE to be made into a high budget , special fx heavy film full with explosions and CG goodness. And its about robots! Robots don't need lines that'll make the movie cheesy!

Now DBZ, that's another story altogether! LOL! Well, as we say, don't judge the book by its cover... so I guess I'll wait. But my bet though, it'll only be as successful as the DOA movie if ever. Well at least the DOA movie didnt take it way seriously as a movie IMO. ;p

First you all assumed the movie was going to be horrible because the actor playing Goku was walking by a car... completely ignoring the obvious details in the image which prove the scene wasn't even shooting at the time. For all we know he could have been in the process of walking on set when that photo was snapped.

Now you're all assuming the movie will be a complete failure based on one very small image. I mean really... just wait until we have actual footage to make your judgments.

This movie can't be good, period.
DragonBall is NOT movie material, never was, never will.

They might use the name, make a completely different story, create completely different characters, and then it might even be good to watch...

But if they try to reproduce exactly how the story goes on the Anime/Manga, it's just competing for the worst adaptation in history ever.

For starters, the actor, the studio and the director aren't japanese. They won't think in a japanese way, they won't speak japanese, the jokes that worked in japanese won't work in english...

And well, we all know how hard it is to make a good movie when it comes from comic books.

That plus making dramas from animes is also very hard (anyone watched Grave of the Fireflies drama? What about Sailor Moon drama?)

And finally, it is comedy! I mean, if the anime was dramatic... like Monster or Witch Hunter Robin, it might even have chances of working. But comedy? On an anime that relies on funny drawn characters, pun that goes from farting, funny deformed faces, huge mouths and huge eyes, and the "falling sideways" surprize effect?

Yeah, I'm still watching it... I cannot wait to see how they'll try to translate all that. Action scenes, speed lines and all that.

Specially after seeing that they got teen actors.

If I have to bet on something, I'd bet that the movie storyline will not even remotely resemble the Anime/Manga. It'll be something like a kung-fu movie with some special effects and some Hollywood like story.

With a teen Goku that has to rescue teen Chichi or something. Targeted to young audiences.

The images posted before had me cautiously optimistic. This picture knocks it back down to a absolute failure in my book. But, again, we'll have to reserve final judgment until it comes out; after all, it's not a Boll flick, so it can't be terrible... right?
