Yeah Madden is legendary but it doesn't change the fact that it has pretty much been terrible ever since EA gained the exclusive rights to NFL. The game has just wreaked of laziness. It's even more apparent on the xbox360/PS3 version of the game. It may run faster on 360 but it still looks terrible and all the players are herky jerky to me which is made even worse the ps3 edition. Laziness to capitalize on the idiot masses. I guess it's business but I'd like to be able to play a football game that isn't garbage.

@telekinesis: I don't know why I'm replying to this idiotic comment, but I feel like playing some defence in flameland.
I DO PLAY some sports video games. You could say, I am in the target demographic - as one who doesn't buy every damn game there is, but one who you would try to sway to play your product - the consumer who puts your game over the top.
2k Sports does an okay job I guess, but here's the point: Why does Madden apparently "suck"? Because EA has exclusive rights, and has no competition. No competition equals no real incentive to innovate, therefore a stalled product that has consumers wanting progress, not just updated rosters.
With regards to the baseball licensing, you say 2K improved baseball gaming by leaps and bounds. If EA Sports were in the picture, these "leaps and bounds" you speak of would be little stepping stones compared to the business of the competition that it would have brought.
Why should EA sports suits go to the hells? That's the part that cancels out your whole argument and everything you say.
Finally Madden is good- It is a legendary franchise in fact. I don't care if you hate it- you cannot deny that fact.

The way soccer is run, it would be almost impossible for them to snatch up every possible license they would need to shut out Winning Eleven entirely. SO that's the good news. You've gotta be freaking kidding me. LAST NIGHT I finally decided to pick up 2k7 again for the first time in 8 months in order to appreciate how good of a game it was. And now EA pulls this bull? I wasn't a huge fan of their football franchise, but this was CLEARLY the superior product available. When EA pulls the same thing with the Winning Eleven franchise I probably won't play another sports game for a long time.

You OBVIOUSLY don't play sports videogames, or if you do, you're playing the wrong ones.

2K makes the best sports games. Hands down, no contest. You don't have to take my word for it, just play the games yourself. IGN once did a big 2K vs EA sports article, and guess who came out on top based on user inputs? Yes, you guessed it, 2K. The people who are hardcore sports gamers like myself KNOW 2K is the only way to play sports on consoles.

I am actually really sad, even though its just a rumor, that College Hoops might be canned because, what a lot of people don't know is (and this is from an insider who worked on NBA2K games) the College Hoops title is the refined version of the NBA game. It comes out a little later, and they put the new/better tweaks into the College game. I have owned every single 2K game, and I can tell you this is true. The little things that they did not get right are smoothed out in the college title. The college game has always been a favorite because of all the teams available, the deep legacy mode, and the realism. It's so much more fun than the NBA one because of all the recruiting features, march madness, and etc. Plus, you can import your graduating class / draft class into the NBA game.

I will be deeply disappointed and will further boycott EA games in this life and the next. I hate EA. I hope all the CEOs and suits there who make these bad decisions go to hell.

Look what that NFL license did to the football games. If you thought madden was good, then you don't know anything about sports videogames or never played the old 2K series.

with regards to the baseball licensing, 2K improved baseball gaming by leaps and bounds.

2k for the most part tries to secure rights after its but up for bid. They do not try to instigate putting the rights up for bid like EA though.

I remember clearly the reports of EA talking to the NFL about putting up the rights for video games up for bid, they knew they were the only ones who could compete for the bid, they did the same thing for NCAA Football and it looks like they are going to to it to NCAA Basketball as well.

I guess my boycott of EA is going to continue, hopefully this will allow 2k sports to implement better play testers for their games, since they have one less title to work on.

EA basketball games are never particularly any good. The Madden series, while I still feel was inferior to the 2K games since Dreamcast, is still entirely respectable.

EA NCAA and NBA games, on the other hand... not so much.

But, there's always the chance that this will somehow change. Since there's nothing we can do about it, we may as well be optamistic. That way, our hopes will get the opportunity to come crashing down.
