I would have prefered a retro projection set (casting shadow on your display screen isn't cool when trying to immerse yourself). The idea is cool however, should try this as a weekend project :)

the wiimote isn't accurate enough yet for this kinda thing and I think they'd need to install a guard rail in the middle to stop you from smashing into the screens while you try and spin around and what not. In any event... ZOMFG I want now!

@K-Squad! (Badass Edition): You do realize that folks in Germany make other interesting technological wonders that arent gaming related also right?

Hell since WW1+2 they have been making some pretty damned interesting things, granted most were weapons and such but thats besides the point. From there is where I started to do a little of my own research into what other types of technology the Germans have developed.

Ive always respected the German culture for their ability to make new and rather interesting technological advances on various fields, not just gaming related.

An even more interesting side point is how similar the German and Japanese societies are.

Care to many any more assumptions on why I respect the German culture?

looks cool but not one of them hit anything! viewing experience seems awesome and it would prolly damage your retina's for an extended period of time. plus you'd prolly accidently run backwards into the screen. but yeah, the controls were shoddy as 'f'! The only thing I can think of to make this better is to have a dome on top so that you can shoot up also, and maybe a bit underneath too so you can shoot people below you.
But their aiming seemed pretty inaccurate so far.

Now imagine this: two of those wiimotes, but shaped like the pistols out of SiN. Dual-wielding will be madness.
Then add simple position-detection for the player's feet, and you have the strafing and all set nicely :D (though you still need buttons for it, too)

This rig is also known as a suicide machine... at least in my house it would be known as that simply because I would be unable to stop playing and would ignore normal life functions. That is of course unless they got really smart and decided to install a feeding tube and put a working toilet on a 360 swivel base in the middle of that thing, at which point you could play without interruption. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I think we're about the closest we've been to virtual reality, purely because you have to use all of your peripheral vision to play it. Only problem is that you probably wouldn't want one of these in your living room.
