As much as I love the Phoenix/Maya/Mia cast I think with PW3C5 the possibilities with them to create further awesome cases is completely burnt out. They have been through all possibile cases now (exept killing phoenix himselve i guess)

@lawblob: According to one interview I read, it's not particularly supposed to be based on Japanese law either.

Really, any legal system where - however convincing your previous arguments that your client couldn't possibly have done it, and even if these were accepted by the judge - failing to prove one small detail of what actually did happen causes your client to get found guilty anyway... :)

I think it's a bit of a police state! Thankfully, the police consists of quality detectives like Dick Gumshoe...

OBJECTION! This game is releasing far too close to the projected release date of Super Smash Bros Brawl, and without the inclusion of Phoenix as a playable character will play second fiddle to people making their February gaming purchases!

@lawblob: The game also takes place in the future, if I remember the first game correctly, where laws have changed to make court proceedings go faster. That seems to be how they explain legal inaccuracies with todays courts.

It does create a fun meta-game while playing this series, as I try to spot any procedural / substantive legal inaccuracies. Although, since the game was made in Japan, you have to take the experience with a grain of salt, since I don't know anything about Japanese law.

I think Ace Attorney would be a great game for various legal problems, though, not just criminal law. The designers could incorporate fun aspects of Torts, Contracts, Civ Pro, etc.

@SSJPabs: Yeah, but who cares? I'm an undergrad considering going into law school later, but it's not like I expect a video game to be an accurate representation of legal proceeding. Let's face it, that game would be really really boring. The Ace Attorney series is an excellently localized, very clever adventure game and I'm glad to have it, blatant legal inaccuracies and all.

@Pombar: Import a US copy. The DS is region free, you can play it with no problems.

I am a full-on Phoenix Wright addict, so I am super excited for this game to come out. I've already played through the third one 3 times already, because it is that good. If Apollo Justice can even come close to that, then I will be in love all over again.

What do I want, god of gaming?

Make a multiplayer PW game where one person is prosecutor, one is defense attorney, and each case has given evidence, simple plot, and the defendant is neither guilty nor innocent. Each response from the prosecution and defense are timed, so it takes quick thinking, and being able to piece the evidence together to create your story.

Something to that effect would make a perfect addition to this series. Please god of gaming, make it so!
