OK - serious question time.

I REALLY want the file cabinets / drawer units that Randy Pitchford (Gearbox) has against his walls (the glossy red / black with silver legs - LINK: [kotaku.com])

Has anyone seen these before or does anyone know his contact information (or his interior decorator) to find out who makes those?

I already sent an e-mail straight to Gearbox through their "Contact" section, but since I'm sure that just goes to a general mailbox, I'm not so sure it will get returned with a proper answer.

If anyone has any information on those, it will greatly help me in furnishing my new home and I could follow your comments from now on as a token of small e-appreciation (or maybe even provide you with a finder's fee).

They all cleaned their desks - except for the Sims dude. This is not real. I want to see desks with piles of shite and paper everywhere - ACTUAL reality. Keyboards full of milk and cracker crumbs, minimal visible desk surface, squiggly lines that represent some repugnant odor - this is the desk of a truly great developer/geek. The rest are just trust fund babies ;-)

The home set up is much more impressive though.

BTW, great article. It's always fascinating to see how people conduct their business. Before looking at the desks, I imagines a variety of colorful, quirky, strange and overly busy images. Actually, it's surprising how many clean and tidy desks there are.

Love the shots that show where people play their games more though.

Thanks for the compliments on my TV. :) I'm sorry -- I don't have any plans on giving it away. I will say I'm not 100% happy with it. It says it's 1080p. Samsung says it's 1080p. The guy at Fry's said it was 1080p, but it doesn't display a native 1080p signal. Only upscales 1080i to 1080p. I discovered this too late and couldn't return it. I guess that's what I get for shopping at Fry's....

I've posted twice wondering if he was making some sort of statement, but my post never shows up (on the picture pages themselves). Who knows? Maybe he just loves that game. We all have the crappy game or two we consider to be absolutely amazing (in 2007 that game for me was The Darkness). And Crecente did say you can judge a lot from a person's desk. For whatever reason he wanted us to either know he loved Kane & Lynch or to catch the irony in the pictures. I'm not sure which.

This is a fascinating project. Keep it up. It's always interesting to get a peak at someone's world like this. Interviews and journals are nice but something as humanizing and revealing as a picture of a person's desk can do a lot to inform your view on the people who make what we consume.
Also, I enjoyed the inclusion of BoingBoing.

What shocked me the most was the significant lack of multi-screen systems. These are pictures from a lot of developers, producers, and journalists and I only counted 13 out of 42 setups using more than 1 monitor. I'm a developer and I couldn't imagine using anything less than 2 monitors (I currently have a 24" wide in the middle with 2 17" on the sides). It definately makes doing any task a lot easier having more landscape to work with.

Very cool feature really enjoyed it! I did a similar thing on my website with our own users posting pics of what we dubbed "Playgrounds". Always cool to see what things a person keeps around them for good energy, inspiration, or to keep them focused.

Maybe at some point (if this takes off) Kotaku would be interested in allowing for a "Show Us Your Playground" section for its users. Anyhow, as I said really like the feature!
