I like CROSSOVER games, which means, I like when they make a VS game, like the Capcom ones. They´re fun, with not story, just fun stuff for people who enjoy a good fighting game.

But when outsiders come into a franchise, I´m all against it.

Imagine Wolverine in Street Fighter IV, or Frodo on Mortal Kombat. It would be just as bizarre as this.

I´m all for a SC VS Star Wars game, it would be fun, they could add Darth Maul and the rest of the crew to the game. But in a regular SC title, I´m against it.

Soul Calibur IV is (or was) a strong point for me to buy a 360 this year. I´ll still buy the console, but I´m not sure if I´ll buy this game.

I already thought that the Link/Spawn/Heihachi thing was bad and hoped they would never do such thing again.

But Yoda battling Mitsurugi is too much. Ridiculous.

Couldn't agree more. I'm a fan of Star Wars and my respect for the franchise just hit bottom. Sure its a game and it looks fun, SC3 was awesome to play...but its like combining whiskey and wine...they just don't mix. Continuity is one thing, but when you take the elements of a beloved franchise like Star Wars and combine them with slightly-medieval and magical elements of Soul Calibur, you end up with a heaping mess of confusion with a very sour aftertaste.

I admit that Darth Vader by himself is a cool addition. And we really don't need anymore Star Wars characters. Its already silly enough.

Also, you cant argue that its ok because Snake is in SSB. SSB is a big mixup of various games where anything could happen. Soul Calibur is supposed to be less comical then SSB. The additions of Spawn, Link, and Heihachi were cool and fit into the gameplay. Even though it was pretty crazy Spawn and Link fit into the SC theme nicely, Classical sword fighters and things from hell.

I was hoping SC4 would just have better graphics, a few new characters, new moves, new modes, and no silly gimmicks.

2. I however is disappointed about the realism of the Lightsaber in the game. In reality, A lightsaber is the ultimate weapon. It can cut anything except other lightsabers (exception obviously to the saber handle).

The fact that a lightsaber cant cut the swords in the game well, you know what, thats just lame!!!

You can argue it was done before with Link, Heihachi, and Spawn, but those are either already video game characters or so odd-ball that they kinda fit. But Vader and Yoda, well, you can argue they single-handedly created the modern geek. They are legendary, but do not fit in the SC world... at all.

The only thing that would be more dubious than this would be if someone put Chuck Norris in a fighter. Except if it was Clay Fighter... then it would be awesome.

In all seriousness, THIS is what games should be doing--saying "f$ck you all, here's something really fun so have at it."

Soul Calibur was never really a serious "zOMG this game is religion" title, giving us at least one character (*kicks CG Yoda in the balls*) who is going to be damn fun to play is a great idea.

Besides, it's not as if either franchise rides high upon a steed of notoriety and/or consistently flawless storytelling. SC's story is about as hackneyed as fighting game plots get and SW's isn't exactly groundbreaking either.

I personally love the idea, and it certainly makes it a more tempting purchase for me. And Darth Vader was always inspired by samurai. I love the face-off with Mitsurugi at the end.

I'll say this, its eerie because I hadn't been thinking about Soul Calibur for months and I just got out the sticks last night for some SoulCal2 on the Wii-I was a bit pissed, one of them is either broken or something is wrong with the GC port, its a 3-in-1 Pelican and its light was on but no response, had to use the wavebird-and then this happens today. I was even cursing how stupid Necrid was to my friend who has probably never played any Namco fighter outside of Tekken 3 as I casually destroyed him-ie I didn't try any of my nastier combos and only played one or two matches with my ladies ;)-and saying how spawn and Heihei-acmanadijad or whatever from tekken were crappy, link was ok but hard to master. He tried, took him 5-10 minutes just to figure out the basics of the "stance" mechanic and still...yeah.

Anyway, despite all that this somehow gets me interested again. I swear though, if this is as shallow and disappointing a sequel as Beautiful Katamari-and I have to pay another $20 bucks for the fighter add-ons people seem to be welcoming as DLC, there will be more than just Yoda/Vader for sale if they go that route-I'm gonna really be annoyed.
