... had too many disappointments with MMO's that I've kind of lost the hope for any MMO. I will make up my mind when it comes out, no more buying into the hype and stuff.

I only wished it weren't so gory. Hopefully the character creation will be very in depth. From what I've seen, being able to make a pretty character is very important to female gamers, at least from the ladies in my guild anyway. :)

@Tizlor: Yes. The graphics are the only good part of the game right now. It looks perdy, but nothing else is fun. I'm highly skeptical that the game will make it's current release date.

@SinisterSkull: yeah my money is on Warhammer online as well. As for AoC I would be intrested if it wasn't by the guys who did Anarchy Online that game was absolutly horrible and had one of the worst launches of all time.

If I were to make a judgement based solely on playing the beta, which I am, I would have to say that as of right now, the game is crap. Pure and simple. It's just not fun to play and I highly, HIGHLY doubt that they are gonna fix it by the games launch.

City of Heroes managed to distill 'fun' out of MMORPG combat. I think part of the appeal was the very visceral feel of each and every move and the feedback you got visually. A lot of MMO's have this strange motion captured dancing combat with random floaty coloured numbers.

I want to push a button, see my character move immediately, see and hear the repercussions of that move and feel connected to my character. That's a large source of the fun imo. City of Heroes managed it really well and the fact that the missions were so mindnumbingly repetitive and yet still fun, was testament to that combat engine.

AOC looks like it could be a bit like a random, motion captured dance-off though, I have to admit, although some of the December in-game footage seemed a lot more solid than previous builds.

@Alith: Well i got selected for AoC's veterans program. One of the 150 most dedicated community members. Have a king rank on their official forums. Regardless of my dedication to the game i couldn't get myself to login after 2 weeks even out of obligation. I had no fun at all. Expect another shadowbane, not another daoc.

@gray665: That cartoon was pretty great, I remember always watching it before I had to catch the bus to school. It took me forever to find anything out about it.

But I do like Howard's Conan better. I'm probably not allowed within thirty yards of an MMO these days, but if I were I would definitely give this a whirl.

Conan looks ok, but not too sure bout the combat, straying away from conventional mmo's (which may not be a bad thing), If, they can pull it off.But it has to do well at launch because there are too many closed minded people that will not give it a second chance. I play Vanguard and I honestly don't see how and why that game is bashed so much. Played last night and got 40-60 fps consistently, there are a few bugs, but nothing game breaking that I've run into. (amd 4600+ geforce 7950gt,2g ram) my computer is decent but not top of the line.The Vanguard basher's cant seem to get away from it's shoddy launch, and conan will prolly be the same.

EEK, don't say things like that. I've already experienced WAR. I'm currently pinning all my hopes on AOC. How will AoC's FFA RPvP server be unlike Andred/Mordred? It's the exact same ruleset in every respect, all the way down to the frontiers and guild held keeps.

@Alith: Please don't expect much from AoC. ESPECIALLY if you're an ex-daoc player. I did daoc for 5 years, vowed never to go back to mythic. After seeing what aoc really is, i've 180'd back to Warhammer. If you're thinking it's going to be like Mordred, you're in for a big surprise.

I SO hope this isn't garbage. There hasn't been a decent guild vs guild PvP MMORPG since DAOC's FFA servers died, over 5 years ago really.

If it's even half decent then I'm splashing out on quad-SLI 9800GX2's and making myself a home there.
