@asianmacker: I'm actually gonna back you on this one but not because I agree with you.

Let me explain. The reason that seal is there is that it works with a Nintendo product and Nintendo has allowed them to use their name. It is just a licensing seal.

That being said, kids aren't going to understand the difference and neither are the parents. You have to remember people, not everyone in the world is as up to date with video games as we are. This seal is placed for a reason. Kinda like the ol' made in America seal. Consumer picks up the product, "Ohh it's made in America, it must be good and I feel like I'm doing something good for my country." Now lets take the Nintendo seal for example. "Ohh look at this golden little Nintendo sticker. Why thats the Official Nintendo Seal. That must mean Nintendo is endorsing this product. And I sure do like Nintendo!"

See this means nothing to any of us on this website, because we have the smarts and the will power to care. Most consumers won't have the smallest clue nor will they care if it is a licensing "sticker".

1) It isn't a Seal of Approval. It's the Official Nintendo Seal.
2) It does not mean anything about the quality of the product. Just that:
a) Games with the seal have been tested to work on the system, and won't kill it.
b) Accessories have been made with a license from Nintendo, and their consent.

Well, I've seen numerous reports about how the magnets in speakers aren't powerful enough to do anything to a hard drive, even if you put speakers on top of a hard drive, and in any case the Wii doesn't have a hard drive. Also, Pro Logic II definitely is 5.1 even though it's not native or something because when I plugged my 5.1 computer speakers into my Wii just for fun I could definitely tell that it was surround sound. Might not be as good as some other surround sound codec thingy, but it gets the job done. Also, these speakers are fugly, I prefer my Logitech X-530s which are only $50 for a decent 5.1 set (Logitech makes great speakers), all black and very nice. These just look retarded.

Wrong. Crappy 3rd party titles have Nintendo's seal of approval on them, but it doesn't mean Nintendo endorse them. It means they get money for the product being there it's not that they think it's a good idea.

I guess this would be neat for someone who only has a Wii and a tv. The stand makes it more feasable to put the Wii on the floor and the sub probably isn't that powerful anyway. I would think that many people already have a sound system hooked up to everything, including their Wii.

5.1 generally refers to discrete channels. PLII is decoded from specially mixed stereo programs using level and phase information to generate a center and rear channel, as well as a low frequency channel using a crossover.

As far as the sub, I wouldn't be too worried about the magnetic interference, and for the vibration, theoretically the lens and disc should both be disturbed the same way and won't cause the lens correction to work that much harder. But overall a silly product.

I remember the sound test in Soul Calibur II distinctly.
There was Left:1, Center:2, Right:3, Back:4/5(seemed to be mono in that game), and then Sub:+.1

Like many posters here, my first response was: "Big loud vibrations right next to the Wii unit / optical drive?" I liked the magnetism posts, too.

But the bottom line is, I play the occaisional gamecube game, and I'm too lazy to shuffle my rechargable batteries from the Wii Remote to my one Wavebird controller, so that means, if I want to play Sin & Punishment, for example, I'm playing with a 3 foot gamecube controller leash.

I need to be able to move my Wii to a more accessible spot if I want to play with the Cube controller (or DK Bongo drums), and then move it back to its normal position when I'm playing regular Wii games.

Which is more Nitendo's fault than these guys, but it's still reason enough not to buy this speaker system.

I think I might need to jump on this bandwagon and start making my own accessories. If this kind of rebadged crap with a fancy (in someone's eyes) subwoofer makes it through, Im sure I can get away with something...

Yeah, I can't see putting that sub right next to the Wii, even if I did want it for some reason. I will say, my GF got a little BOSE radio-CD thing last X-mas and it sounds great with both the Wii and 360. Not as good as on the full 5.1 with powered subwoofer setup I have in the other room, but pretty good for its tiny size.

I really don't see how it's any different from those gaming speakers sets that they sell for like $80, but don't last long at all.

I'd just save up the money and get a 5.1 surround system. I have that with the Wii, and it sounds fantastic.

Technically they could have magnetically shielded the sub, in which case it would be safe to have them that close. Even if they didn't it looks like there is about an inch or two gap between the system and sub, which should be enough.

Last I checked, bowling is more fun at a bowling alley. Baseball is more fun on a diamond and cooking is more fun when you can impress a chick and get laid.

Obviously story and fun factor is important, but that comes from the mind of the developer, not the hardware. Being able to toss in some shweet graphics and kick ass sound is the very least the manufacturer can do.

And about the Sub-Wiifer.. its supposed to be on the floor idiots.. are you going to put your friggin' Wii on the floor?!

For a second I thought that picture was the Wii with a HDD and some sort of graphic enhancer (I've always expected those to be the reason for the USB drives on the back). For a second, I was pretty excited (I'm already running out of space on the console). Then I find out it's a 2.1 speaker setup. Is the Wii going portable? Is it manufactured for those 22 people whose TVs don't come equipped with speakers? I don't understand the appeal. Then again, I didn't get the whole "gamer chair" thing either, and plenty of people seem to enjoy them.
