@chu-boi: Speak for yourself, I am not sad by the fact that I have trust issues regarding a system like Rock Band. It's $184 after taxes - The second day I had mine some genius who was visitng family in town decided to bang on the drums, it took 4 "hey stop doing that your messing up the menu" to realize that the fake drumming (which he sucked at doing) was not working so well on the menu.

Then you have people saying "OMJEEEZ A WHAMMY BAR" and want to start hitting that when they play guitar hero (which does nothing for points anymore). So yeah, i don't have a trust issue regarding normal people, I have a trust issue regarding stupid half retarded people.

I can do way better on the GH3 controller that Rock Band's. The Rock Band one needs a strummer paddle that actually clicks. For me, it's too loose and I can't time my shit right.

The fret buttons are about the same in my book, though.

Mad Catz products have always had a negative stigma placed upon them for being easily broken, but I think I've had relatively better luck with the brand than most. An MC Dreamcast controller that was pretty decent (six face buttons is a bonus) that I've owned since 2001 broke down about a year and a half later. That was more of my doing (damn Jet Grind Radio sessions) than the product itself. However, an MC Dreamcast Memory Card that I've also owned since 2001 is still working properly to this day. Odd.

I think it's good news as long as they copy the guitar well. I really like the size and design of the RB guitar (the GH3 one is just too small to me) but the build quality is crap. If mad catz made a halfway decent one that was the same size that would be great.

@acemahl: THIS. Anyone that thinks bass guitar is the "easy" instrument has never listened to a good bass player. Geezer Butler from Black Sabbath (NIB anyone? Not the RB/radio version...the WHOLE version. The one with the 2 minute bass solo before the song starts.) Les Claypool from Primus (his solo stuff is...odd) and Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers to name just 3 popular bass players who do it right.

I ,as a bassist, know it's not true. Just because a lot of bands don't use the bass effectivly doesn't mean they are "second rate". Listen to a jazz bassist and prepare to have your cocky socks blown off.
On topic I have had trouble with some of madcat's accessories before but they have improved since their PS1 days of utter crap.

I'll never forget how my dad bought a Mad Catz controller with my brand new Gamecube early '02. I tried to overlook how atrociously shoddy and cheap the controller was because I just wanted to play Melee. It broke after like a month. Every mad catz controller was "that" controller that you and friends fought over NOT to use. Whoever got stuck with it always lost, but then you could blame your suckiness on the pad. So in a way, thanks Mad Catz for being such a great scapegoat when I needed u most!!

ActiBlizzard and Red Octan have some bad blood and ActiBlizzard is not allowing the push to have the GH3 Guitar to work with Rock band. theres no telling how long that hold out will last and if its long enough to where i see one of these on the shelf i will just end up buying one of these.

I really don't understand all the hate for Mad Catz. I haven't bought a lot of their products, but what I did get hasn't let me down, and often I get things I wouldn't have had in my controller otherwise - rubberized grips on my 360 controller for instance. Not a big deal, but considering it was much cheaper and offered a little something extra, I was happy. Why all the hate?
