WoW hate is funny because it is almost never well-reasoned. WoW is only better than every other MMO ever made to date, so it's understandable that people are jealous playing their crappy FF11 or CoH/CoV or whatever.

What's with all the WoW hate?

I'm not a total fan of the game. The only time I played it was during the holiday on a trial account. But I have to admit that I did have fun.

Sure, there is grinding, but it's easy to overlook it when you consider how much life the game has. As opposed to other RPGs, like Oblivion, where all the characters look lifeless, at least there are other people to interact with. Plus, though the game may not have the best graphics, the world certainly does seem welcoming. And I, for the most part, love leveling up.

It's a very social game and I'm all about social.

Oh well, people always hate what's popular for the sole reason that it is.

@Archaotic: Well, they're not developing Ninja Gaiden 2 for the PS3 because Microsoft agreed to publish the game. You could call that moneyhatting if you want, because Microsoft is funding the development of the game, but that would be kind of inaccurate, considering at that point basically every first-party game becomes 'moneyhatted'. If that was all it took for a game's development to be a giant corrupt conspiracy, then that happens to be true for Sony games like LittleBigPlanet or Killzone 2, and every other exclusive game on every console. People throw around the accusations of bribery and so forth like it's going out of style, because we've all become cynical and jaded as the business grows and development becomes more expensive and therefore requires more corporate investment. It's true that it always sucks when you see a game that looks really awesome and then realize it's only on a system that you don't own. To an extent, exclusive games are anti-consumer, but they're also a necessary part of this business. Sony and Microsoft's machines are, for the most part, similar in the type of experience they are trying to deliver, so the goal becomes distinguishing the two consoles through available software. And I also think in a way exclusive games push the standards of development higher because each console maker feels the pressure to deliver excellent games that are only available on their machine. Look at the best games of this year: Bioshock, Mass Effect, Super Mario Galaxy, Uncharted, Rachet and Clank... a lot of them are exclusives. After these games come out and look fantastic, the pressure is put on third parties to equal that level of quality.

I got kind of off topic there, but I felt that needed to be said.

Well Kaedex is right. WoW and Mario can go die in a fire. So can any other object/person/character. It is very unlikely, however, that any of them WILL. It is probably more likely that they will die in a car accident, as a result of cancer, heart disease, or suicide.

Where does he get the idea that HIS choice is going to dissapoint people? He's being honest and that's that. I also can't wait for SSBB as well.
@Archaotic: I agree. Itagaki is a dick, not for his games (Except DOA - I harbour a deep hatred for that game), but his attitudes towards other games and people.

Well, he's also a marked fanboy who has been cited as saying he "only develops on the most powerful console", but really seems to use it as an excuse to avoid developing on Sony machines (see the PS2 and PSP for Ninja Gaiden games, and overall dickery and moneyhatting for Ninja Gaiden 2 not hitting PS3).

Agreed, Levine's human. How would it be disappointing that he wants to play other games? He just said a few weeks ago that he was playing stuff on every system.

If anything, it's inspiring that a developer can be SO impartial in the face of fanboy dickholes like Itagaki and Newell who hate everything that isn't their primary dev platform.
