Flying is a bit tricky, but it controls more like an animal than a space ship and it so far makes sense and feels right to me. You need to learn the rhythm of the 180 degree turn which is tricky to master but so far not a problem. as I suspected reviews were way overly harsh. There is slowdown a times, but nothing horrible and the sheer amount of things happening on screen is stunning.

I think the fireballs seem a bit odd, and the strange explosions for everything(including dragons and those big air manta things is due to removing blood and gore from the game? Or that the air animals are filled with explosive gas to lift them?

I also got Warhawk for christmas, which is fun but less exciting than i thought it would be, as it feels like a simplified BF with better air combat (which i still suck at in both games), and UT3 is slightly more fun. I really want vehicles in Resistance multiplayer.

I think Heavenly Sword is the Best PS3 game I've played so far this year. Oddly it's the KAI levels I really love. The sword combat is fun but not as amazing.

Hoping to get Uncharted soon, because of all the glowing reviews on here.

Yeah, it was short compared to most games, but that's because it didn't have any backtracking or random item collection (not that there's any thing wrong with that, Ratchet). HS had it's flaws, but I felt a connection to these characters, good and bad, that I haven't felt since Beyond Good and Evil. I've been hoping and wishing for a sequel to BG&E, just like I hope HS gets a sequel.

COD4 is a great, if short, SP and MP experience slightly marred by a fair amount of technical problems with the online. Still, it proved, once and for all, that a multiplatform game CAN be made to look exactly the same in PS3 and 360 and be released at the same time. Almost full marks to IW.

As for Uncharted, I'm still in my first play through, but so far one has to admire what ND have pulled out in their first go at the PS3. Great playability, amazing production values, extremely polished sound and graphics (a little bit of tearing, though), and a rather original story and setting by today's standards. Not so in love with Nathan's character, I'm afraid. All in all, a very good effort from ND and a big push for the system, even if sales have not been great from the start. It'll grow on PS3 owners with time.

As for R&C, it may be inferior to COD4 and Uncharted in the technical department, but it is nonetheless a nice illustration of the system's capabilities, and to many, as myself, the first game to truly deliver on the PS3's promises for this gen. I cannot forget the fact that, after owning the PS3 for about 6 months and becoming increasingly desperate for a great game, Ratchet was the first demo I played that made me go WOW!!! Graphics are a joy to watch and run butter smooth, gameplay is a tad on the easy side, but still varied and compelling, and the sense of humour that permeates the whole game is a refreshing change from most available titles for any platform. I had not played previous R&C games for PS2 either, so it was an amazing discovery for me too. Full marks to Insomniac, and thank you guys for making two of the handful of really good games that have kept the PS3 alive in its first year!

Uncharted has to get it though. CoD is an amazing game, almost FPS perfection, but it just seems right on 360. I have heard the PS3's online has had problems with the game (and 360 seems to be getting XBL woes right now, lol) but it feels like it dosn't belong to me. Plus I don't like the PS3 controller for shooters.

As for a toss up between RnC and Uncharted, I think it was a bit easier to decide. RnC feels great, fun and a big improvement over its predecessors, however, its still just a sequel and it feels like that. Plus the story they tried to throw in dosn't seem to be going anywhere (havnt gotten very far in it) and feels tacked on. Uncharted is new, its "fresh" and alot of fun. Easily Uncharted.

The dynamic lighting engine in Uncharted is probably the best I've seen in a console game, and is at times almost comparable to Crysis(although Crysis has without a doubt a superior engine). I think an even bigger part of the game losing me is the lack of full body awareness; Bungie has been doing it for years, but Infinity Ward and Epic can't seem to figure it out.

Uncharted really has all the elements of a great game with an awesome storyline to boot. Uncharted fulfilled its ambitions, made a successful new IP on a late blooming console, and had a unique combination shooting, platforming, puzzles (even thought easy), and storyline capped with great graphics and sound. Ah, Uncharted is the most polished game released this year. I never heard anyone accusing it of being rushed to market before -- congrats. Unlike other games with huge glaring bugs -- Halo 3's horrible AI, Mass Effect's Inventory and pacing, Assassin's lock ups and duping, etc. Some people still enjoy craftsmanship and release quality products. I think Uncharted is the best game released this year in terms of polish and refinement. The gameplay and story are great, and the pacing is so well done you don't even notice when you're in a cutscene. Rushed? Pick one of those other titles for Most Rushed to Market.

In other news... i've alyaws been a nintendo guy, this is my first PS... and I just downloaded the Rachet an Clank demo... I like it a lot, but i kinda suck... even then i think i'm gonna buy it if you guys say that it has a good amount of replayability value. I've never played a R&C game before, but i think i can love this game (don't think i can like it more than galaxy, though).

I think for the demo alone, i would go with Rachet & Clanck as GOTY. uncharted Second and Call of Duty 4 on third until i play it.

And for another rant... I really hate that i CAN'T buy stuff from the PSN since i live in Mexico. I don't know why would Sony stop me from buying their download games because i don't have a US billing address. I hope Little Big Plannet comes on disc format, then, because i'm really looking foward to that game. Even nintendo that basicly rips us mexicans more than Sony lets me buy online stuff.

Among the nominees, Call of Duty has the highest PS3 Metacritic ranking and its easily sold the most copies (it's sold more copies on the PS3 than Ratchet and Uncharted combined, and those games are ones only found on the PS3). The reason for that is obvious: it's a multi-platform release, which apparently disqualifies it from being the best PS3 game. I just think it's incredible how divisive the console wars have become.

Unless you play it on the PC, the game is an upscaled from 1024x600 and looks like complete ass on my 1080p display. 4 player splitscreen is alright, but I'd rather play Halo 3 or Warhawk for that.

]]> <![CDATA[Reader's Choice PS3 GOTY]]> I think my vote for best PS3 game is a dead heat between Portal, Call of Duty 4, and Rock Band. Sure, those all came out on other systems, but they also came out on the PS3, and I think they're a notch above Ratchet and Uncharted.

That's not to put those Ratchet or Uncharted down, it's merely a testament to how incredible I thought Portal, CoD, and Rock Band are. And like I said, just because those games came out on other systems doesn't dissuade me from voting for them on the PS3 since they also came out on that system.

There are still enough people playing that the servers are almost contantly full despite the fact that it didn't sell that well and it's going up against UT3, Orange Box, and CoD4. Warhawk deserves to at LEAST make the list.
