Way to go! So far this holiday week we've gotten my Mother-in-law hooked on RockBand (PS3), Hot Wheels Beat That (Wii), and Cooking Mama (DS). Whenever I or my kids put down a console she picks it up and starts jamming, racing, cooking. A week ago she couldn't even turn on the Wii, now she just goes and starts playing when the rest of us are otherwise engaged.

Congrats! My victory was all the more sweet. I turned and entire Italian family into Wii junkies. Most impressive is that my GF's uncle, a large, 40-50 year old, Man's man construction type, was the first one to purchase a Wii after this whole family was over for Thanksgiving. We had an in and for Chrstmas we got him Guitar Hero 3 which his wife LOVED and so far after watching the uncle get embarrassed trying to play on easy twice he opted for private lessons. The rest of the family loves the thing and it seems like Wii will become a staple of family functions. :)

@ceilingfanboy: and what's so bad about a grandparent playing the Wii? It seems like the commenters on this post welcomed the idea, but on any other Wii-related post, people's comments almost made it sound like soccer moms and grandparents playing the Wii is a disgraceful thing... I'm just trying to understand why. Hey if my mom and my grandparents are willing to play video games with me, I think it would be awesome!

I just did this with my girlfriend and the DS. Literally one month ago she was on me to cut back on gaming time.
1 gift of DS + New Super Mario Bros, Phantom Hourglass and Brain Age later and today she went to a one of those DS wifi spots and downloaded the freakin Ninja Gaiden DS demo. 0 to Ninja Gaiden in one month. I kid you not.

My parents have only played my Wii once. Damn, they might actually get more use out of it than I did. Although, to be fair, I am one of those people who will always play the same game over and over for a couple of weeks/months and then move to a different game and right now Warhawk is where I'm at most of the time.

My dad used to be a huge fan of Nova 9 on the PC. When the Wii came out, I got him and mum into Sports, but didn't really carry the effort on. I'll have to try again.

I've actually gotten my mom to play Rock Band with me and my brother. She seems to really enjoy it, but I suppose it makes a little sense because she's a music teacher.

I've also gotten her to play DDR a few times, and she loved it. I haven't been able to get her to play any of the more "hardcore" games yet, but I'm working on it.

Sounds like my dad after introducing him to Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004.

And now years later with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2008, he still spends his time playing the game in front of the computer, even eating in front of the computer everyday after work.

That's one of the reasons why I bought a Laptop.. :D

My Sisters and I picked up a Wii for my grandparents (out parents got one last christmas). My nephew even managed to get my grandfather to play guitar hero, a pic of him playing is now my desktop background...a 90 year old with a Black SG...he wants a country version.

I've tried to get my parents to join in on the fun, but the most amount of time they'll ever play anything is a couple of days at most. My dad used to be an arcade junkie back in the day, but now he'll only play an occasional round of Wii Sports Baseball.

My wife got me Galaxy for xmas and was on the phone with her grandmother, who asked what I was up to. When my wife told her I was playing video games she said "Is it that Wii? The just got one in the complex I live in and I have been meaning to try it out" She lives in a pretty snazzy retirement community and they put a Wii in the game room with the pool table and shuffleboard. Good stuff.
