i love the chipmunks. call me crazy and retarded if u want, but i think they r really cool and all the films, the tv series and the new film were hilarious. I am too disapointed that the made shit cgi remakes of them that look too much like normal chipmunks, but they are still the same-old Alvin and the Chipmunks at heart. I agree, the game is a waste of money, i know coz i got it on ps2, but in my opinion, i like 'em.

Don't blame the wii for crappy games. The crappy games were already around (on the ps2) and those crappy developers simply migrated (from the ps2).

The game looks horrible, but the song sounds great! They took an annoying pop song and made it even more sugary sweet. That is CLASSIC chipmunks guys! What's with all the munk hate?

@vanderhoef: Yeahs it totally looked like Samba de Amigo, except it looks like the music in this game doesn't seem to rhythmically correspond to the notes you have to hit. Of course it could be a YouTube sound sync issue, but I wouldn't doubt if the Alvin game really did not correspond. My guess was that kids just sit in front of the TV, wildly flailing their arms, and points accumulate. As to this, I would be more upset about this movie if I didn't see it as a millstone dragging Jason Lee out of our pop culture (or at least to a much lower level within it), like the low-rent Jim Varney he is. If it can help bring My Name Is Earl to an end just a bit sooner, its all worth it, even the 4 minutes of my life I just wasted watching that clip.

Oh and the old (80s) cartoon was decent for kids programming aimed at the under 10 set, but thats the best that can be said of it.

I had to add my two cents to this after something I witnessed yesterday while I was in EB games in the Gallery Mrkt East here in Philly. A woman with her two sons, one older one younger (20+yrs and maybe 15 yrs) was looking to buy a game for the 360. The young kid wanted CoD4 but was also looking at Dead Rising and Assassin's Creed. The mother looked at the other two games and asked "do they have a blood in them?" Keep in mind that they already had CoD4 in hand about to pay for it and the mother said they the kid couldn't buy the other too if they had blood in them.

It's times like these when I am reminded that the average consumer is an idiot. So it's not okay for the kid to buy a game with blood in it but you let him buy CoD4 which consists of run and gun gameplay with a vast assortment of military grade weapons and explosives? What kind of logic is that? Slitting someone's throat is bad but putting a bullet in their head is okay? It's not like CoD4 has a cover that deceptive. There's a damn soldier on the front of the game with an assault rifle.

Then we have the parents that rushed to the retail outlets to buy DS and PSP for their kids. But some of the kids these were purchased for are as young as 3.
What the hell is a 3 year old going to do with a PSP?
I wouldn't buy a 14 year old a PSP. It wouldn't last a month. Dumbasses and their money.

@altgod: While the lack of sophistication or knowledge among your average consumer is a source of infinite anger for me, I don't think we can lay this squarely at their feet.

Do people buy games like this... well, yes, obviously. God knows WHO these people are, but if I had to speculate, I'd guess that they're uninformed parents, who don't really have a clue what their kids will or will not like, resulting is some very poorly informed purchases.

Helpful Hint: If you don't know what your kids want... ASK THEM.

But studios (both movie and game) are beginning to see diminishing returns on 'products' like this. Consumers are become more and more wary, and as the NES and SNES generation become parents, the prospective buyers of these games are getting wiser about how to pick a turd out of the crowd.

Hollywood is begining to see an increased decline in ticket revenues from theaters. They blame it on piracy, and while I'm sure that's a factor, I think the fact that they made a Scary Movie 4 could also be a contributing factor. I mean, for the love of Cthulhu, the WAYENS brothers passed on that movie. The guys who brought you "Jawanna Man" said, "Nah, no thanks." to two Scary Movies.

Well, aside from shaking my fist at the darkness, there really isn't a lot I can do personally to affect this trend, except advise all of you to do what I do:

Don't buy shitty games.
Rent games you arn't 100% sure about. This should be most of them.
Rent games that don't have a decent amount of replayability or multiplayer.
Remember: If you wait a few months, it'll be half price.

It's not always easy to pass on running out to pick up a hot new title, but your local video store, or services like GameFly (who really should start sending me endorsement checks) make it easy to play all the new games in a timely fashion without pitching out $60 a pop. You'll save money, and best of all, you won't support shitty games.

And lastly, tell your friends to do the same.

I'm not trying to say the Wii is a bad system, It's just getting bombarded with crud games and with very few good games in between all of them.

No system is better or worse then the other and every system has it's share of crudware.

Unfortunately If you want to peg me as a 360 fanboy because a majority of the games that I like are on the system, then I guess I am.

I originally had a lot of faith in the Wii and still think it has a ton of potential which is going to waste because every single developer seems to want to make cheap cash in party games and just keep cloning them over and over...

All I was getting at in my first post was that the Wii has been a bit of a disappointment to me and it wasn't to my liking anymore.

Yeah, I had a hunch that it might show up on the DS and PS2, but I didn't expect the PC. And yeah, the PS2 has had more shovelware on it than any other console in history, but guess what else it had: tons of good games. Also, I'm not sure why you think I'm a 360 fanboy. I only recently got a 360, and did so only after swallowing my pride and calling it a "Wii Mic" due to the fact that I will soon be using it primarily to talk with my friends while we play Brawl.

According to Gamefaqs,it's on Wii,PS2,DS,and PC. It's a crappy movie-based game,all systems have them,especially the market leader of any given gen.

Don't blame the studios, blame the consumers. The reason more and more unoriginal shit keeps being pumped out is because the studios aren't losing money. If they didn't turn a profit, you can bet your ass they would start trying new things. The real problem is that retards, sorry I'm not being politically correct, "casual gamers" buy this shit. Not this shit exclusively, but still, a lot of this shit. Although, the Wii seems to be a counter example to this. Nintendo has always turned a profit, but they went ahead and tried something different anyway. But what is all this shovelware coming out for? The Wii. I actually didn't read the headline for this article very carefully, so I didn't see what system this game is coming out for, but I'm not going to look because I already know. It's almost the definition of irony.

I looked, just to be sure. I would have sounded dumb if it was a PS2 game, which to be honest, is very possible.

Hollywood has really been outdoing themselves with the formulaic shit-fests lately. And it's not just limited to the 'kids' genre, either. Seems like almost every movie to hit the theaters these days is just a weak attempt to capitalize on the success of some other book, movie, video, pop idol, superhero, or rapper.

Remember when they used to make movies that came out of left field and shocked the hell out of you all the damn time? Hell, I remember Fight Club and Brining Out the Dead came out in like the same damn month, one year!
Now we're lucky to get anything half that original once or twice a year. But, I don't really blame the writers, they get paid to write a script that sells.

I blame the studios for doing the same shit that the video game industry is starting to do: relying on 'tried and true' formulas, and not taking ANY risks. Not "low risk", or "a few risks", NO RISKS. They're selling the same product over and over again, and wondering all the time why they're starting to see less profits.

This is a fine example of why I got rid of my Wii. The system just wasn't fun for me anymore after the gimmick wore off so I ended up giving it to a friend's eight year old daughter.

Sadly I see the Wii taking the same route as the N64 and Gamecube... Tons of trash and very very few games that are worth it (99% of them being first party).

Burn Me Once... Burn Me Twice... Burn Me Thrice... Not anymore.

I'll stick to PC & 360 for now.
