@superbeast1370: Chinese is much more grammatically simple than Japanese and the word order of sentences is much more similar to English.

I'll sure try to get over there for the Chinese GDC. I'm already planning my annual leave to fit in this event.
Allthough probably most of the focus will be on MMORG game production, which is tremendously popular here in China (no, not just because of gold farming).
I'm curious to see if China is going to develop some special genres of their own...Maybe a C-RPG genre to counter the J-RPG genre, or maybe a communist marching rythem game genre

I would type something racist and stereotypical of Chinese like chingchongchingchongchingchang, but i'm afraid people hear might view that as racist, and overlook the fact that i'm Chinese myself AND focus on the fact that i can't (or barely can) speak chinese.

I was about to comment that, should the power and reach of the chinese increse, they would eventually develope games like "Red Tibet Alert", and "SweatShop Tycoon", but for now I don't think we need to fear chinese influence in the gaming industry. I am concerned that they will probably enforce quota of foreign games to enter the country, like they do with non-chinese movies...
I hope Kotaku can attend to the GDC.

Shanghai gets all the love, much to the unhappiness of the rest of China.

Also, why would you avoid the mainland but stay in the Taiwan...so weird. Especially in 2008 with the Olympics. It will be crowded, but very fun, especially for Chinese speakers.
