You also can't use patterns you haven't learned.

X,XX, XX = miracle (first miracle makes rain)

C,S,C,S = RUN AWAY! (may be S,C,S,C)

Main problem is the music gets stuck in your head.

I went around going Patta Patta, Patta, Pon (the move forward).

Also Fever mode (10 melody combo) is a little insane your guys start doing tripple attack and its a litteral rain of arrows/spears. Though using it causes me to waste alot of time going (T,T,S,C) since it doesn't move you forward. And there is no move backwards, only a run away for a momment.

@Onizuka-GTO: Yeah SCE made the game so theres no way its comming out to the DS. That and I dont think the graphics would be the same.

Its a great title for the PSP though, which is exactly what the system needs.

@nonhuman: To correct him, the 4 button patterns you need to play are all preset it seems and the game teaches you what the patterns are as you move on in the "story".

Right now all Ive learned is

KEY: S(square), C(circle), T(triangle)

S,S,S,C - Move foward

C,C,S,C - Attack

T,T,S,C - Defend

@Rabidsquirrel: Just played through a few levels. I must say this is one of the more creative games in a while.

The gameplay is fairly simple and does require a slight bit of memorization with what "beat" patterns you play to command the little folk. Granted if you make a mistake nothing bad seems to happen and they remind you which beats do what actions for your little army.

To make more little soldiers you need to collect items like meat or stones and other stuff. Also you learn how to make new soldiers as you advance in the story, along with new beats and actions.

So far Im enjoying it quite a bit, and the music is amusing and the characters themselves are rather cute. The art style is just great though.

Overall I say this game is a worth psp purchase just due to the creativity of the game.

For folks looking for something different this is the game for you.

I always carry a handheld with me in my purse (so I can always have a game handy should a spare moment or two arise); it's pretty much always my DS. Loco Roco was the only game that made me switch out my default handheld to my psp. I adored it because of it's amazing integration of gameplay, simple yet amazing visuals, and quirky music.
That's why I need this game. It looks like a completely different experience but with those same qualities that made me fall in love with Loco Roco.
Now I'll continue to watch this trailer over and over to tide me over until then.

I've been playing it for a couple days now and I am most definitely hooked. Sure I can't read Japanese and this video just helped me realize there's an "equip all" option to make my equipping easier, but it's just such a beautiful and fun game! Hopefully, unlike Mr. Katamari, the devs of this game keeps making more new and innovative games.

I'm being totally honest here: this game has convinced me to get a PSP. I also really wanted Roco Loco, but I can't buy a system for one game. Patapon was the deal-maker for me. These are the type of games I was hoping would be on the Wii but its ironic that the real innovative developers are with Sony.

I'm a sucker for rhythm games. And now that more and more games I'm interested in are being released it's time that I start saving up money for a PSP. (it doesn't have a region code, right?!)

@deathbunny: No no, that's not the concept of the game ... The indications of the notes that you see on screen appears when you press the buttons. It isn't a default button sequence "God of War style". The idea is that while you can appreciate everything that happens simultaneously on the screen, you hace to take decisions and transmit them following the rhythm of the musical sounds in the background. I am currently playing the Japanese version. "Super easy four button play"..? Cactaur is right. Sometimes it becomes hard as hell. And an excelent experience. Unfortunately I don't understand Japanese, and I can't move forward in the game

It's a pretty interesting game, so far. I'm not too far into it, but it does, unfortunately, contian a little of the leveling that is inherent in many RPGs. Right now I'm kinda SOoL (Shit Out of Luck) in playing that game as, like usual, I've progressed to the point where my weak guys can't cope with the new enemies but I'm too lazy to crack out the kanji dictionary to understand what the hell I should do...

I like the design and concept of this over Locoroco (though the design is similar), but even though I haven't played this much I think Locoroco is a better game.

I would like to see this on the PS3 for download, perhaps the very same game but with HD visuals and cross compatible saving. If such happened for alot of PSP games i would be very happy, reverse remote play would solve it though.
