I absolutely LOVE this game.My first Soccer(Football)game i bought was a cartridge Soccer game for my C64 and SoS reminds me a ton of it.

Dammit I would love this on the Wii I spent ages playing sensible soccer and cannon fodder when they came out. I never played sensible golf though.
You could pretty much get anybody to play this, even if they didn't know about football, and they would like it because it is just so damn good. Yes it may not be as easy to pick up and play as more modern games but it's worth the effort and the learning curve isn't that steep.
Besids Americans have made rather a habit of taking on sports from other countries and enjoying them, American football, ice hockey, baseball and American football all spring to mind as examples.

@icepick314: ...demo you say? Will have to get that when I get home. Lots of old-school style games have a really high initial learning curve, but once you get them, nothing else can touch them. Fire Pro Wrestling comes to mind. Not easy to figure out, but OH so worth the effort.

It is "Sensible" because the developer was "Sensible Software"

I wouldnt expect that many Americans to understand the appeal of the game.

As a Brit in my twenties i used to adore this game on my Amiga in my youth, and i know ALOT of people have been looking forward to it for some time =)

Football is sensible, it isn't however "sensibile"
Kotaku story pulled due to typo bug, expected to make triumphant return when eggnog runs out, ;-)
I loved this game, while it look simple it's a lot of fun and the after touch system was great. It was sensible because of the way it allowed you to view the pitch, a great improvement over previous games.
